In Person State Testing Requirement
In Person Required State Testing
Dear Aspire Families,
Next semester our calendars will have days listed beginning in January for required state testing in grades 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 11th grade. Participation in state testing is required by the state for students to remain enrolled in an Arizona Online Instruction Program. Administration wants to ensure that we begin the messaging now regarding upcoming Spring testing for our full time students. We will work to create a safe testing environment for our students. Logistics for testing will be given after winter break. If you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call the school at 602-467-5755 or email us at Aspire@dvusd.org.
As part of the A.R. S. 15-808: Pupils who participate in Arizona online instruction are subject to the testing requirements prescribed in chapter 7, article 3 of this title. On enrollment, the school shall notify the parents or guardians of the pupil of the state testing requirements. If a pupil fails to comply with the testing requirements and the school administers the tests pursuant to this subsection to less than ninety-five percent of the pupils in Arizona online instruction, the pupil shall not be allowed to participate in Arizona online instruction. Students who do not participate in state testing are subject to loosing their open enrollment status at Aspire, Deer Valley's Online Academy for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Communication
Hello Aspire Families!
We appreciate the support you provide to help your students continue to grow and succeed as learners! Parent-teacher communication is valued by our entire staff. The best way to reach Aspire elementary teachers is by sending them an email. Student Canvas inbox messaging should not be used for parent communication. Teachers will respond to your emails within 24 hours. When they are engaging with students, they will not be able to address questions through emails or through Zoom. Thank you for your dedication to your scholar.

Hello, Families of Aspire Online Academy!
As you know, Aspire strives to deliver a solid academic foundation and works hard to have an online academic program (Intelligence Quotient or I.Q.) for students. Because I.Q. alone does not make successful children and adults; Aspire will also provide opportunities to learn communication skills (Emotional Quotient or E.Q.) for students.
We will be implementing All Things E.Q. (ATEQ) because their insights support, rather than interfere with academic instruction. A four-year comparative study was done to determine the effect of All Things E.Q. You may read the study here.
All Things E.Q. encourages critical thinking and focuses on four questions:
Each week students are introduced to different skills. For example, our students will be learning and practicing how to work through confusion, learn from mistakes, listen with understanding, and be kind to one another and themselves.
To create a shared vocabulary between campus and home and because your child’s best interest is something we all have in common, we include parents in weekly updates that keep you abreast of the tools your child is learning in school, so you can implement them at home. The E.Q. updates will be posted in Aspire’s weekly S’mores Newsletter.
Thank you for being a part of our school community. When we all work together, we bring the best of all of us to our students.
Feel free to email me at danna@allthingseq.com with any questions. We look forward to a fantastic 2022!
Sincerely,
Danna Evans
