New Active Learning Classroom
Stephanie Isenhart
Hello All! My name is Stephanie Isenhart, and I'm proud to join Shawnee Trail as the Active Learning teacher. This is my 5th year with Frisco ISD, and have spent the previous 4 years at Hunt Middle School in the same capacity. I've been getting used to Texas summers for 6 years now as I'm originally from Lawrence, Kansas. My husband Mark and I will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary this year. We have 2 amazing kiddos, 2 cats, and a sweet old dog. As a family we like to watch sports and movies, go to the gym, explore new areas in the Metroplex, and most importantly just spend time together. I'm looking forward to another wonderful year serving Frisco students and parents.
Sunshine Salvosa
Greetings!!! My name is Sunshine Salvosa and this is my Fourth year in FISD, all with the ALC program. Prior to that, I’ve taught in a few schools in my country for 8 years and in a Catholic School in Rio Grande City for 3 years. I’m originally from the Philippines and moved to Texas in 2009. I’m happily married to Bernard and we have an adorable daughter, Addie, who is 10. During my free time, my husband and I love to play tennis or simply watch movies as a family at home. I can’t wait for the school year to start and meet all of you as I make Shawnee Trail my new home in FISD. Hope to see you all soon.
Kristine Eder
Hello my name is Kristine Eder and this is my second year with Frisco ISD in the Active Learning Classroom. My first year I worked at Hunt Middle School and now I am so excited to work here at Shawnee Trail. Outside of school, I love to spend time with family and friends. My husband Bill and I are both from Wisconsin so yes, go Green Bay Packers! We have lived in Texas for 16 years and have two beautiful children, our daughter Cheyann and son Austin. I am so excited to meet my students this year and begin an amazing school year here at Shawnee Trail. I love what I do and I can't wait to share my passion of teaching and learning with my students.
Important Information: Arrival and Dismissal
Carpool
Thank you for your support as we work to keep our students and parents safe during arrival and dismissal. Following the rules of carpool traffic can be challenging, no one likes to wait in traffic.
- On Monday, all students were dismissed through the carpool lines by 3:16. By Thursday we had it down to 3:13. Improving our time by 3 minutes.
- Thank you for waiting at your student's designated area during dismissal. As you can imagine dismissing a classroom of more than 20 students along with grade levels of approximately 100 can be somewhat overwhelming. When you wait for the class to arrive at their designated area, it helps the teachers manage dismissing your children with optimal safety.
Safely Crossing the Street
- Our school crossing guards play an important role in the lives of our children who walk or bicycle to school. They help children safely cross the street at key locations. They also remind drivers of the presence of pedestrians.
- For the safety of our students and community members, we ask that drivers not block crosswalks and yield to all pedestrians.
- The safest way you and your children to cross the carpool lanes and streets is to use the crosswalks.
SSI Letters for 5th Grade
On Friday you will receive two forms of communication about the Student Support Initiative for 5th grade reading and math STAAR tests, one via email and the other will be a brochure brought home by your child. Please keep in mind that any decisions to retain a student may be appealed by you to a committee who makes the recommendation for retention based on students' individual needs. You, an administrator and the classroom teacher serve on the committee called a grade placement committee. If your student receives special education services, the decision is made by an ARD committee. If you have any questions or concerns regarding STAAR or the Student Success Initiative, please do not hesitate to call the school. Mr. Matisoff and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Pam Schaeffer

Message From the PTA President -Helena Erickson
This year the Shawnee Trail PTA will be sending out a weekly (hopefully) Newsflash to parents that have registered on our website ShawneeTrailPTA.org. It will contain information about what your PTA is working on and upcoming PTA events. I will try to make it easy to read (lots of bullet points!) and hopefully, brief.
This first Newsflash Friday has been sent to the entire school. After this week, if you want to stay in the loop you will need to register at ShawneeTrailPTA.org.

2x2 Reading from the Texas Library Association
The 2x2 program is a State Program from the Texas Library Association. A Texas committee selects 20 books each year as best books. The program is used with K-2nd grade. The students read the 20 books and color the puzzle piece on the Texas shape. When they have read all 20 books and completed the Texas, they bring the sheet to the library and they choose a free paperback book and a free pencil. The books are also available at the public library.
