SUMMARY

Charter Analsis..... Ruth

Ruth is one of the main charters in the book. She was born a slave and was separated from her sister Isabelle in the middle of the book. When Ruth found out that she will never see her sister again she started to back talk her owner and run away. Later she had to get sent away to get marked with an I for insolence. At the end of the book Ruth was set free and was never reunited with her sister.

SUMMARY

Chains, is about a girl named Isabel and her little sister Ruth. Both Isabel and Ruth were promised freedom when there owner died. But no one believes them. So they are sold to a very cruel family, The Locktons, who don't treat them very good.They make them wear shoes many sizes to small, hit you for one little mistake, and more. But then Isabel meets Curzon, a slave with ties to the Patriots. He encourages her to spy on the Locktons because they know details of British plans for invasion. At first, Isabel is afraid she will get caught. But when the Locktons decide to sell Ruth, Isabel changes her mind.
