This week in 7th grade ELA we finished our class novel, The Watsons go to Birmingham- 1963 and took our unit test. We also watched the movie associated with the book to make comparisons. Additionally, students continued work on their research essays by putting together and peer editing the body paragraphs. We are coming to the end of our unit so students are writing news cast book report skits to be performed early next week. We used this week to finish writing and begin rehearsal. Such a fun group of entertainers in this class. We put some of the final touches on our Weebly sites this week and will publish them when our essays are completed next week. Looking forward to seeing the finished product that students worked so hard to complete. On Thursday we got to take a field trip to the Civil War Museum and the Rec Plex, a great learning experience for the kids! Please continue to stay up to date on grades and missing work as the end of the year quickly approaches. Have a great weekend!

Algebra began their last unit this week. We began working with rational expression. A rational expression is an algebraic fraction where the numerator and denominator are polynomials. The first step was to simplify. This unit will reinforce factoring. The same fraction rules for multiply, dividing, adding, and subtracting will apply to these fractions. Adding these fractions are hard because there is much more involved in finding least common denominators and making equivalent fractions.
The year is winding down and we are going to try to finish this last unit with the time we have left. All papers will be graded this weekend and updated grades will be posted by Monday.
Please encourage your son or daughter to finish all late or absent work before the year is over.
Have a great weekend.

Students did a lot of reviewing this week for their test on invertebrates. They took the test on Wednesday on Schoology. Students are also continuing their work on vertebrates by creating foldables for their notebooks that will be a good resource to study for the vertebrate test. We also completed the pre lab for the frog dissection. The frog dissection will be next week Monday and Tuesday. All grades are up to date. Please continue to check Skyward regularly.
Have a great weekend!

Students have been busy finishing up our activities and adjectives unit. Students took the quiz and grades will be updated shortly. Also, students performed their unit skits in front of the class, pretending like they are meeting a new friend. We began our last short unit of the year, verbs! Students are learning the importance of conjugation and recognizing the correct subjects of the sentence!
Physical Education and Health News and Updates
Amanda Peterson amanda.peterson@yorkville.k12.wi.us
This week the 7th graders only had one day of health due to the field trip. We reviewed the topic of puberty with discussion questions and an advice column.
This week the 7th graders played Gladiator Ball and a new game called “Capture the Ball.” The students received plenty of exercise on these two days and seemed to really enjoy the friendly competition. On Friday, the students played kickball and participated in the Color-a-Thon!
Have a great weekend!
