Edgewood Weekly Update- April 21st

Connecting Families and School Through Communication!

Dear Edgewood Families...

Many wonderful school-wide events are coming up... Open House, Parent/Teacher conferences and the Book Fair! The staff and I enjoy these times to connect with you, and you will have the chance to see and hear about the many awesome things your child(ren) have accomplished at school in these upcoming weeks.

The Last Week for the 5 Essentials Survey

Please take time now for the 5-minute 5Essentials online survey. We are currently at 12% completion, by 52 Edgewood families.

The staff and I appreciate your input, and we will not have access to the feedback unless we reach 30% participation. Each adult family member in the home can take the survey, using individual e-mails.

Taking the Survey:

1) Go to https://illinois.5-essentials.org. There will be a "Take the Survey" button in the upper right hand of the screen.

2) Once you click this button, click the "Parent" button, and a unique log in will appear.

3) All surveys must be completed in one sitting.

4) Once you have completed your survey, please click the "Submit" button.

5) The survey is being offered in English and Spanish.

I will also have the Computer Lab open and the site available on each PC during our Open House, if you would like to stop in then to complete the survey.

Thanks very much for your time!

Please Help Us Reinforce the Importance of Good Attendance

In recent weeks we have seen an increase in students who are "running late." The first bell for students to enter the school is at 8:10 A.M., and students arriving after the 8:20 A.M. bell are marked tardy. I am going to begin contacting families directly if a student is tardy more than twice in one week, so your help in reinforcing the importance being on time and in school each day would be of great help! Thank you!

Parent/Teacher Conference Scheduling

The teachers and I will be finalizing the Parent/Teacher conference schedules on Wednesday. If you have not turned in your conference scheduling note, please do so tomorrow. The classroom teachers will send a confirmation of your conference time(s) on April 25th.

Online Registration is Open!

If you have not yet registered, please remember to visit the link below if your child(ren) is returning to Edgewood for the 2014-2015 school year.

PTO Officer Positions Open for 2014-2015

The Edgewood PTO contributes so much to our student activities, classroom parties, field trips and curriculum resources. We must fill the open PTO Board Treasurer and Vice President position, or our PTO will not be able to continue for the next school year. If you are considering the possibility of volunteering and being a part of the PTO Board, please feel free to call Tannis Tyler our PTO President, at 630-342-6918. Thank you!
