TCC Application
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2023-24!
TCC is an early college program that partners with Midlands Technical College to offer students the opportunity to complete an associate degree in high school. This program is geared towards students who benefit from a non-traditional approach to high school and college. We help you improve academically while providing you support to set and meet your goals – inside and outside the classroom.
Current Bell Schedule (Monday-Friday)
1st block - 8:55-10:15
2nd block - 10:17-11:37
Lunch - 11:39-12:04
3rd block - 12:07-1:27
4th block - 1:30-2:50
Dismissal - 2:50
Any rising 9th-grade student is eligible to apply, and any rising 8th-grade student can express their interest for the 2024-25 academic year.
Who is an ideal TCC candidate?
- A first-generation student who will be the first in their immediate family to earn a college degree (ex: parents have not completed a 4-year college degree)
- Maintains "C's" or better in English and Math classes OR has shown exceptional growth
- Maintains "C's" or better in all classes throughout the 2022-23 school year
- Has no discipline referrals or very few discipline referrals
- Regularly attends school and doesn't have excessive absences
- Self-motivated and desires to attend and complete college

MEET THE DEAN
An educator for 11 years, Dr. Brandon Baskett began his career in 2011 as interim coordinator of intercultural programs at the University of South Carolina Aiken.
He joined Mid-Carolina High School in the School District of Newberry County as an English teacher in 2012. While there, he served as assistant varsity boys basketball coach from 2013–2016, summer school administrator from 2014–2016, administrative intern and teacher technology leader in 2015, and assistant principal and freshman academy director at Newberry High School in 2016. Prior to leading The College Center, he served as an assistant principal at Lexington High School from 2017-2020.
