Congratulations to our Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program!
Mr. Brook is proud to announce that Jasmine Dickson, Devon Diverniero, Anna Kilpatrick, Evelyn Milavsky, Jared Morgan, Daniel Sweeney and Krystal Yearis have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC.
“These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Clearview High School Recognizes Red Ribbon Week
Each year, on October 23-31, individuals, schools, and communities across the United States show their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle by wearing or displaying the red ribbon. Red Ribbon Week raises awareness of drug use and the problems related to drugs faced by individuals, families, and communities. This annual health observance encourages parents, educators, business owners, and other community organizations to promote drug-free lifestyles.
Red Ribbon Week started more than three decades ago, following the death of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration who was killed by drug traffickers. Shortly after Special Agent Camarena’s death, citizens from his hometown of Calexico, California, began wearing red ribbons to remember him and commemorate his sacrifice.
Red Ribbon Week offers a great opportunity for parents, teachers, educators, and community organizations to raise awareness of the problem of drug misuse.
Did you know?
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 24, 2020, starting at 10:00am. This event is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country.
Check Gloucester County Drop Boxes - for local sites. (there is a drop box at both Mantua and Harrison Township Police Stations).
In the Meantime ... What Should You Do With Your Unused Meds?
Most people who misuse prescription drugs get them from family, friends, and acquaintances. You can make a difference by keeping track of the medicine you have, by rethinking where and how you keep your medications in your home, and by safely disposing of any unused medications. Read more about ways to secure your meds and safely dispose of them at home.
Keeping Kids Drug-Free (from Help Children and Teens Stay Drug-Free)
There are many things you can do to help your children stay away from drugs and make good choices:
Talk with your children about drugs before they are teens.
Explain why taking drugs can hurt their health, their friends and family, and their future. Tell them you don't want them to take drugs that they aren’t supposed to. You can also share the websites found in the Drug Use Prevention Phone Numbers and Websites section. Repeat these messages during their teen years.Text your teen.
Send positive text messages to your teen. Or send a text after you have a conversation that reminds them of your talk. You don't have to worry about popular texting language. Just write the way you talk. Tell them you are proud of them.Be a part of their lives.
Spend time together. Even when times are hard, kids can make it when they know that the adults in their life care about them. Give your child your full attention. Have dinner together, Turn off your TV, cell phone, or computer, and really listen.Know where your children are and what they're doing.
Keeping track of your children helps you protect them. It gives them fewer chances to get into drugs/alcohol.Set clear rules and enforce them fairly.
Kids need rules they can count on. That is how they learn for themselves what is safe and what can get them in trouble. Explain why you are setting a rule so they understand why it matters.Be a good example for your children.
You might not think so, but kids look up to their parents. Show them how you get along with people and deal with stress. This can teach them how to do it.Make your home safe.
Know the people you have in the house. Try not to have people over who misuse drugs and alcohol. Keep track of medicines and cleaning products you have in the house.

Morning Drop off and the weather??!!??
Parents, we need your help!
- Make sure you're checking your students PowerSchool.
- Remind your students of the importance of being engaged while learning remotely.
Parent Reminder: If your student is hybrid and will be working remotely on a certain day, you must call/email the attendance office and let them know or your student will be marked absent!
If your student is not feeling well or is going to be absent for another reason, please call or email our Attendance Secretary, Mrs. Pierson, as per the information below. Students who are participating in the Hybrid model and call out sick may participate remotely on those days if they feel up to it, but must be called out by a parent in order for them to not be marked absent.
We have had several students participating in the hybrid model who have emailed teachers saying they were not feeling well and will be participating remotely. While we certainly are remaining as flexible as we can during these unprecedented times with regard to attendance, parents need to be the ones that contact our attendance officer to confirm an absence. We cannot rely on student communication to teachers as confirmation of an absence. In addition, students missing busses and over sleeping are not acceptable reasons to miss class either in person or remotely and will be marked as absent appropriately.
Students should contact teachers if they are not feeling well and will be participating remotely on a particular day. However, parents MUST contact Mrs. Pierson with the information below. If a student contacts a teacher and we do not receive a parent contact as well, the student will be marked as absent appropriately.
Again, we will be as flexible as we can but we need your cooperation to make this process a smooth one.
*Late Arrival/Early Dismissal students: parents will send an email to Mrs. Pierson to inform the school the periods that senior students will be attending in person. This email should come from a parent, not the student. If your students' late arrival or early release falls before, after or around their wellness class then they are not required to attend their wellness class. They are required to attend their wellness class when their late arrival/early work release is either first thing in the morning or at the end of the day.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Pierson.
Mrs. Pierson's contact information: email: tpierson@clearviewregional.edu or phone: 856-223-2769.
