Because God Loves Me, I Can Be Grateful
Gratitude. How is that that we have a hard time remaining grateful? It's not difficult for me to be grateful in a moment, but for me to REMAIN grateful, for that to be a state of being or where I live from, that's another story. Sometimes, I think God just wants to give me a little more of His perspective.
This week, kids are learning about how we love God and how we can have grateful hearts from 2 Samuel 6. It's the story where David returns the ark of the Lord and is unashamedly worshiping and thanking God. The people were worshiping because the presence of the Lord was HERE in the ark! What we get to remember is that we have something even better! It's not that the Lord's presence is right in front of us, it's that it's inside of me! Because we have the Holy Spirit, we have the Lord with us all the time! My gratitude comes from who He is, not from my circumstances.
Remember, as we're walking through this series we're focusing on being united in prayer over 2 things: what the heart of God is like and how we (us and kids) can be people after God's heart.
Gods Heart- God Loves Me
My Heart- A Heart After God Is Gratefuly
This week let's pray for these things:
- Father, show me YOUR HEART! Remind me that you are here with me. Let your presence be evident and surround me with your love.
- Give me a heart that's grateful. Restore the awe & wonder that I receive from your presence. Keep me in that place. Give me more of your Holy Spirit and open my eyes to see all the blessings you've given me- both spiritual & earthly. Show me how to use gratitude as a way to worship you!
Mother's Day
Let’s make sure to go out of our way to show moms some love & tell them why we appreciate them today. But let’s also be really sensitive towards kids that may not have moms in the picture or even people that may really desire to be a mom but that hasn’t happened yet. This can be a tough day to a lot of people, but know that whoever we’re interacting with we got to shower them with lots of love and grace!
Also, a big thanks to all of you! You’re not all moms but you are stepping in to leading kids. In many ways this is taking a role towards spiritual parenthood- you’re spiritual mothers & fathers to kids as you nurture them and are point towards Jesus.
