Astro May Update
Dream big. Reach for the stars. Together we achieve success!
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
I certainly hope that April showers bring May flowers, although I'm not quite sure what April snow means. Let's hope it brings some sunshine.
May is the final month for our school-wide Reading Challenge. The students in grades K-3 have already met their goal of 1,110 books. The students in grades 4th -6th are on track to meet their goal of 19,200,000 words. We use a computer program called Reading Counts to measure the reading goals. Students take quizzes on the books that they have read and if they pass the quiz it gives them a word count for the book. The students are very excited about earning a big prize, Kona Ice!
Our Astro Apprenticeship program has expanded. We now have students working as Library Assistants with Mrs. Giles and Student Tech Advisors with Mrs. Ballanti. We have also started the Ladd Acres Publishing House. The goal of the Publishing House is to illustrate and publish student-written books. The books will become a part of our school library so that other students can read them and be inspired to become authors as well.
In partnership,
Jennifer Robbins

Ladd Acres PTA
We are currently recruiting board members for the 2022-23 school year. Our greatest need is for a PTA Treasurer. The role of the treasurer is to keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures in accordance with the budget approved by the membership. Tasks include check writing, deposits, ensuring that required documentation is filed with appropriate authorities in a timely manner, and overseeing the annual audit process.
Voting for our PTA Board will occur at our April 21st meeting at 7 p.m. If you would like to learn more, please email treasurer@laddacrespta.org. We appreciate your willingness to invest in our Ladd Acres community!
If you haven't yet joined the PTA, there is still time. Membership information can be found on the website.
