Principal's Corner
This week was volunteer appreciation week. Normally, we try to recognize volunteers who come in throughout the week with a small token of appreciation for all they do throughout the year. Despite not being able to do this in our new world of remote learning, we are no less grateful for the countless hours that people from our community have contributed to make Meadow Park a great place for students to be! Whether you are a regular at PTO, volunteering to do art lit, working with our band, spending time in AVID classes, managing the lunch lines, or simply making copies to take something off our plates, we thank you for all you have done.
There have been some questions about Friday’s Advisory and Wellness activities that should be posted by 9 am every Friday. Our counselor’s are posting weekly Wellness lessons and our admin team does Advisory activities. These are supplemental activities for students but include assignments that we hope will brighten their weeks and encourage them to continue to be part of the Park community. If your student isn’t seeing these, they can head to the following Canvas pages and check the Assignments tab.

Make it a great week!

PARK Expectations
As we engage in this new format for learning away from school, we are asking that students AND parents/guardians, together, review our PARK Expectations - focused on remote learning. We want to remind students that we are still participating in school and we expect that they will stay Positive, Aware, Responsible, and Kind, just as they would when they are with us at school. Please let your child know that there is an assignment to complete in CANVAS. They will review the PARK Remote Learning Expectations and submit an assignment recognizing and acknowledging that they understand these expectations. Thank you for your support in helping us to create a positive community for all of our learners at Meadow Park.

Each week our counseling team will be sending out a Wellness Minute. We are asking all of our students to engage in the Wellness Minute on Fridays. These slide decks will also be posted on our school wide, grade level CANVAS page (6th), (7th), and (8th). It will be pushed out as an assignment each Friday morning.

Schools are Closed/Trespassing
As per Governor Brown’s direction all schools are closed for the remainder of the school year. Community members continue to gather on school property – in parking lots, fields, and stadiums – and this is trespassing. District Administrators may contact law enforcement and report trespassers as needed. Approved events where community may come to schools include Wi-Fi access for families, Chromebook distribution, and other school led events.
Safe Routes to School Challenge of the Week!
Thank you for submitting all of your AMAZING photos of bugs, insects and little critters. Our week #2 winner of the #WEwalkchallenge is 3rd grader Amos Breckler from Cedar Mill Elementary School. Congratulations! There are still two more weeks and two more helmets to give away this month. This week look for a beautiful tree on your daily walk or ride and submit your photos on the Beaverton Safe Routes to School Facebook page or email them to bsdsaferoutes@gmail.com.
BE Safe - Maintain 6 feet of distance from others while walking and biking outside
BE Alert - Keep your eyes and ears open and look all ways before, and while, crossing the road.
