Principal's Message
I hope that everyone had a wonderful break. It was nice to spend time with family, eat
too much, and watch a lot of football. It is hard to believe that we have only four weeks
remaining until the next break.
Please make sure you check the exam schedule and exemption updates.
Have a great week!

Counselors' Corner
Leveling Down: Within the first semester, students will be allowed to level down to Pre-AP or on-level courses at the end of the 4-week point and at the end of the first semester (pending space and availability).
We are approaching our second level-down window, December 4-6th. Students may obtain the “Grapevine High School Level Down Form” on the counseling website and get the appropriate signatures before submitting their request. The form will be up by Dec. 1st. Consultation with parents and teachers and grades should be used to help make informed decisions. Processed schedules will be viewable in Skyward and ready to follow by the start of second semester.
Transcript requests: students in need of an unofficial or official transcript will need to request those through a link to Parchment on the GHS Counseling website: http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/42538. You will be prompted to set up a Parchment account if you have not already created one. Please only access Parchment through the link provided on the Counseling website so your account is linked to GHS. When setting up your account it is not necessary to complete the scholarship/college search portion, skipping this portion will expedite the account setup.
Important Message for Seniors: Please make sure that you are requesting your transcripts for universities, scholarships, and Common App through Parchment. Your CommonApp process will stall if you have not requested your transcript through Parchment. Also remember those using AppyTexas will need to request a transcript to each individual college you listed in your ApplyTexas application. If you are having difficulty requesting transcripts come by and see your counselor ASAP. Early application deadlines are typically November 1st and December 1st, check on the college website to ensure you are aware of the date!
Seniors Requesting Counselor Recommendations: If students have submitted requests for counselor recommendations to accompany their college application, counselors will have those uploaded into systems such as CommonApp and SendEdu by the admission deadline window indicated. If you are requesting a recommendation letter (required as part of the application) to be mailed to an institution, please provide an addressed envelope with postage.
Junior Class Visits: Counselors created a 10-minute video to prepare Juniors for their senior year. Topics covered included: applying for colleges, financial aid information, college essays, and other important post-secondary information. To access this link please visit the following: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zceLaZixuMc&feature=youtu.be. Junior Parents: Counselors will be hosting a Google Chat (online real-time streaming platform) to discuss information to help your student prepare for post-high school planning on Wednesday, December 6th at 5:30 pm. More information to come!
