Middletown survives late push by Boiling Springs in 20-16 win
MIDDLETOWN — All the energy that had been culminating on the Middletown sideline and fan section seemed deflated within the span of a few minutes.
Boiling Springs had just scored a touchdown and recovered an onside kick at the 50-yard line, and the Blue Raiders' four-point lead with less than two minutes left to play started to feel a little bit less comfortable.
But that was as far as the Bubblers' run would go. Three rushes netted only three yards and a pass from quarterback Colin Lunde went incomplete, and the Blue Raiders (2-1) were able to take over on downs. From there, quarterback Julio Rodriguez took a few knees and ran out the clock to defeat Boiling Springs (3-1) 20-16 and end their perfect start to the season on Friday.

HS Football: Boiling Springs 'brought it tonight' in tight loss to 'bully on the block' Middletown
MIDDLETOWN — There was never any doubt Friday night that Boiling Springs was in over its head against Middletown at War Memorial Field.
The Blue Raiders still won the football game, but it took a couple first-half gifts from the Bubblers and a big night from senior running back Tymir Jackson for Middletown to subdue Boiling Springs.
In a game where Boiling Springs actually had the last shot to win the game, it was the Middletown defense that came up with a big stop in a tight spot to preserve a 20-16 Mid-Penn Capital Division victory.

Middletown’s Tajae Broadie adds ACC offer
Middletown’s Tajae Broadie added another ACC offer Thursday night.
The Blue Raiders' junior standout said Virginia Tech is the latest school to join the mix for his services.
It comes weeks after he added Pitt to his list in late September.
He also claims offers from West Virginia, Kent State Akron, Central Michigan, UConn, Cincinnati, Old Dominion, Bowling Green, Buffalo and Syracuse.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder was a first-team PennLive All-Star at defensive end last season after recording 53 tackles — 21 for loss — and six sacks. He’s a versatile player, however, and can also play tight end or fullback. He caught 32 passes for 438 yards and seven touchdowns and ran for 104 yards on eight carries.

Middletown Teammates of the Week
Each week, Student-Athletes, Coaches and Faculty can nominate someone they feel is a great teammate for the past week.

What makes a good teammate? Multiple reasons!
Here is a great quote by Kobe Bryant that can help sum it up:
"I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot."
The Blue Raiders instill the following leadership qualities P,R,I,D,E. When nominating a fellow Blue Raider, please list one of these qualities in your description.
P-erseverance, R-espect, I-ntegrity, D-iscipline, E-xcellence
