How to Develop a Brand New Musical ... a TRU Success Story!
Learn about how My Life Is a Musical went from a reading in the TRU Voices to a developmental workshop to a full production at Bay Street Theater this past summer. How did this team of producers come together, and what is their division of responsibility, and what's the secret to their successful collaboration with writer Adam Overett? What are the next steps to bring this new musical into a commercial production, possibly in New York? Will a similar model work for your show?
With writer Adam Overett; original TRU Voices producers Molly Morris and Cate Cammarata; optioning producers Patrick Blake (Bedlam Theatre St. Joan/Hamlet, In the Continuum, The Exonerated, Play Dead); David Elliot and Martin Platt, co-directors of Perry Street Theatricals (Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike, Bedlam Theatre's St. Joan/Hamlet, In the Continuum, An Oak Tree); plus commercial producer Cheryl Wiesenfeld (All the Way, Rocky, Vania & Sonia & Masha & Spike, Porgy & Bess, A Steady Rain, Legally Blonde, Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, The Exonerated).
Doors open at 7:00pm for networking and refreshments, roundtable introductions of everyone in the room will start at 7:30pm - come prepared with your best half-minute summary of who you are, and what you need. Free for TRU members; $12 for non-members. Please call at least a day in advance (or much sooner) for reservations: 212/714-7628; or e-mail TRUStaff1@gmail.com
