Letter From Tyler Goldade, APC Board Chair
Hello FPCS Families,
I don’t often reach out to you, but to ensure there is transparency between the APC and our school and hopefully bring a degree of clarity around recent ASD communication with the FPCS APC.
On Monday, February 13, the FPCS APC received the attached letter. This letter indicates that the ASD is investigating the FPCS APC and asks the APC to provide answers to very specific questions by Monday, February 27th.
The APC held a special on Wednesday the 15th to discuss a response strategy. From that meeting, I can say that the APC members are taking this letter very seriously. The APC members understand the potential impact of this investigation could be up to and including retracting the FPCS charter. The APC members understand that this potentially impacts all FPCS families' allotments and student rollover amounts. The APC members understand that this potentially impacts other recent FPCS successes like private school course reimbursements, expanded allowable vendors, increased allotments, etc.
The APC will be meeting again next week (the week of Feb 20th) to finalize the answers to the ASD questions. As always, the APC welcomes public comment at meetings. If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to the APC members.

Valentine's Day Enrichment
Students moved between five stations to create several craft projects related to Valentine's Day. They made beautiful cards, butterflies, and a weaved paper heart basket to give as gifts. We ended by delivering & receiving Valentines with classmates.
Light, Sound, and Coding Enrichment
Students had fun conducting investigations to learn about light. Kids loved using glow sticks to illuminate objects, and flashlights to create shadows. We also learned about how light travels in waves just like sound and how the eye works.
Enrichment Field Trip to the Alaska Aviation Museum
This field trip was the last session of the Flight & Airplane Study enrichment. Students traveled to the Alaska Aviation Museum, to observe and learn more about real life flight. Students were given a tour of three large planes along with many interesting stories told about Alaskan pilots. Students especially loved the flight simulator and sitting under a hanging aircraft.
Open APC Parent Seat
The FPCS APC has had an APC parent seat open up. There is a little more than 2 years remaining on this seat until it is up for re-election (May 31, 2025). If you are interested in serving on the APC board and would like to be considered for this open seat, please fill out the attached application and email (goldade_tyler@asdk12.org) it to me by March 2nd. Your application will be reviewed and discussed at the March 20th Regular APC meeting at the FPCS conference room. If you wish to apply, you are encouraged to attend so the APC can meet you and ask any questions they may have. This election process is a little different than regular elections as it will be decided by a majority vote of the APC members.
Thank you for considering serving in this role. Please let me know if you have any questions.
