1st Day of School Newsletter
Everyone is a Super Hero
From The Principal:
Can you believe today is the first day of school and we survived!? WOW- time really went by fast this summer! I am excited to have everyone back at school and ready for the school year. All of us at Elkton Middle are geared up for an exciting, fun year here in middle school! This newsletter is for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. As we move forward, newsletters will be sent on the first day of each month. Please check your emails for the monthly newsletter!
Welcome Back and I hope for a great school year! As always, please call us at Elkton Middle if you have any questions or concerns.
Emily Holloway, Principal
First Day of School
Wednesday, August 24- ODD Day
Thursday, August 25- EVEN DAY
Doors open at 7:45am
School begins at 8am
Parents: If you are bringing your child, it is IMPORTANT to follow the traffic pattern in the parking lot for drop off. Parents are required to walk their child to the crosswalk, not drop them off from the parking spots. Our school continues to grow and we have over 600 students now! With this, I want to ensure safety in the parking lot!
EMS Daily Schedules
ATTENDANCE EMAIL
Student Attendance
We have an attendance email address dedicated to attendance information and notes! Email us at emsattendance@rockingham.k12.va.us to report daily absences. We hope this can help to make things easier on busy families (once you email, you do not need to call or send anything in writing). Doctor offices may also send scanned/electronic notes directly to the school using this email address.
Notes from Nurse Julie
Dear Parents/Guardians
This is a reminder that the Virginia Department of Health has added new vaccine requirements to the vaccine schedule for 7th grade students. *TDAP and Meningitis (Meningococcal acwy) Vaccines are now required*. HPV is suggested, but can be opted out of verbally by the parent/guardian. Our school nurse needs one of the following documents: Immunization record showing your child received these vaccines. OR Required vaccines may be waived with a signed and notarized Virginia Certificate of Religious Exemption form. If you feel that all has been taken care of, please contact your doctor and have them fax me the documentation so that I may bring the school records up to date. (Call the school to make sure we received the fax) You may also drop the records off at the school. Students MUST have one of the documentations on file before they can come to school. The school fax number is 540-298-0029. Please do not wait, get this done ASAP! The Health Department currently has limited dates available for appointments at the Clinic. Doctors offices are booking up and most don't have dates until after school starts. You can check with pharmacies as some will give the vaccines there. Make sure to get documentation to provide to the school. Thank you, we'll see you all soon!!
