CHROMEBOOKS
At the beginning of the year, each student was issued a Chromebook, a charger, and a Chromebook case. If all three of these items are not returned at the end of the school year, students will be charged to replace them. A Chromebook is $400, a charger is $60 and a case is $25. If all three items are not returned, or if a student does not pay to replace them, the student will not be given a report card at the end of the year. The student will also not be given a device to use next year. If a student currently owes fees for Chromebook damage, that must also be paid in order to receive the report card and a device next year. These charges will follow students to high school, so this announcement applies to all three grade levels.
PI DAY at CMS
On Tuesday, March 14 (3.14), CMS students celebrated Pi Day by raising money for an outdoor classroom. The outdoor classroom, an alternate location, was requested by teachers and students. Each grade level was challenged to raise $100. Grade levels that raised $100 earned the honor of having one student selected at random to throw a pie in the face of its grade level administrator. Because Mr. Parks is not a grade level administrator, the grade level that raised the most money earned the right to see a pie thrown at him by a mystery person, his wife. Students enjoyed seeing the administrators covered in pie. The school now has about $300 to put towards the outside classroom. Way to go, Wildcats!
ROBOTICS COMPETITION
The Domino's, one of Clinton Middle School's Robotics Teams, will be traveling to Iowa, March 19-22 to compete in the US Robotics Championship. They will compete against 120 of the best teams from all over the United States and a few from other Countries. This team is made up of Liam Bell, Nicole Boyter, and Jacob Keadle. Good luck, Wildcats!
PARENTS of 8th GRADERS
Attention 8th grade parents! For the past few weeks, our counselors have been scheduling Individual Graduation Plans (IGP) conferences. An IGP conference is a meeting with the student, the parent, and a counselor to discuss possible career opportunities and options before going to high school. If they haven't already, each 8th grader will receive a letter with the date and time for their conference. Please ask your child if he/she received a letter with this information.
CITY of CLINTON TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
The City of Clinton has noticed that sometimes parents cannot make it to meetings, get their children to the doctor/eye doctor/etc., or make it to other activities or services for their children due to lack of transportation. The City of Clinton is conducting an interest survey to see about public transportation for the area. The city would appreciate your input on this topic. Please click on the link to take the City of Clinton Transportation Survey.
SCHOOL DISTRICT CALENDAR
MOBILE PHONE POLICY
Students should know that cell phones, headphones, earbuds (for non-academic purposes), and other similar devices cannot be visible and should be placed out of sight upon entering Clinton Middle School. These devices are not allowed at any time that students are in the building between the hours of 7:30am and 3:45pm. Students who violate this policy will receive consequences and repeat offenders will receive out of school suspensions. Please review this policy with your child. Parents should know that if they need to communicate a message to a student at Clinton Middle School, they may do so by calling (864) 833-0807.
PHYSICAL ALTERCATIONS at SCHOOL
Fights and all other physical altercations pose a very serious threat to students and staff members. Maintaining a safe environment for everyone is our top priority. Effective immediately, any student involved in a fight or physical altercation will be suspended from school for a minimum of 10 days and will automatically be recommended for expulsion. Additionally, any student that instigates a fight or physical altercation will face the same consequence of 10 days of out of school suspension and will also be recommended for expulsion. Please keep in mind that students can receive these same consequences for making threats to fight, jump, or harm others. All of this has been communicated to students repeatedly since the first day of school.
