North Glendale Summer Update
July 10, 2021
Greetings!
We are busy getting the building ready for the 2021-2022 school year!
While you may not be able to tell from the outside, there is a lot going on inside.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, KSD passed Prop R last Spring and this means some cool improvements here at NG:
- safe and secure entrance
- relocated office space
- assessable ramp added to the front of the building
- lighting and cameras in our outdoor spaces
We are also having all of our old, non-eco friendly light bulbs replaced AND a new HVAC system installed (these are not Prop R projects). So, we are a big, dusty mess. Just like home improvements, the promise of the final result gets us through the pain of the process!
Please see below for lots of information. I will send a second summer update in late July and start up with our weekly family updates in August.
My best to all ~ summer is lonely at school without my NG kids keeping me on my toes!

Wait, I see a new COUNSELOR? Where is Mr. Leonoard????
The good news is that he now has a a partner in Mrs. Johnson! Having close to 600 kids to care for (and their NG adults) has been a huge caseload for Mr. Leonard. I am so excited we were able to secure a second counselor and look forward to you meeting Mrs. Johnson.
Classroom Teachers for 2021-2022

When will we find out class placements?
A reminder about class placements...
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT: AUGUST 18TH
We will continue to work to keep crowds down so we will welcome families inside in shifts:
- 5:30-6:30 ~ families with last names A-L
- 6:30-7:30 ~ families with last names M-Z
You will be able to visit classrooms, drop your supplies off and pick up an NG t-shirt courtesy of the PTO!
School Supplies
The NG PTO is once again partnering with Bright SchoolKitz to make back to school time a little less stressful. By purchasing a school supply pack you can skip that trip to the back to school sales and really stay socially distant!
Packs are specific to your grade level and are filled with brand name and quality products.
What's even better? This year, every school kit purchased will help pay forward school supplies for a child in need. Win, win, WIN!
Visit the site http://www.schoolkitz.com and type in North Glendale.
