OUR SCHOOLS
In the Math World...
Recently 53 students across grades 1-5 at Parkview and MMS had the opportunity to participate in a live virtual lesson taught by math guru and author Greg Tang!
Mr. Tang covered five topics, one per grade level, over the course of three days.
By the numbers...
- 9 first graders interacted in the lesson about adding within 20 (quickly!)
- 13 second graders interacted in the lesson about using number lines efficiently
- 8 third graders participated in a lesson on fraction equivalence
- 9 fourth graders were involved in the lesson about adding fractions
- 15 fifth graders interacted in a lesson about fraction operations
Each of the lessons were 45 minutes long and had great participation from our students. It was an invaluable educational experience....and TONS of fun!
A Glimpse into a Day at Parkview...
Library Time at Parkview Primary!
Hand sanitizing upon entry, learners meet Ms. Steger at the library door to get their returned books checked back in and then place them in a "quarantine" box. When looking for new books, the learners "shop with their eyes" and choose from the books that are displayed on top of the bookshelves.
Finally, they take their new book and get it checked out at the main desk, and sanitize one more time as they leave!

MHS Band...VIRTUALLY!
Please enjoy this virtual performance of our MHS Band playing one of their warm-up chorales earlier this year.
Students recorded anywhere from practice rooms and conference rooms to the auditorium or their homes. Recordings were done via Macbooks, Chromebooks, and cell phones, and Mr. Cooney pulled it all together using our new technology!
While we've had many virtual performances throughout this year that have been outstanding, this was our most popular rendition across our social media channels, so we thought we'd share it again here!
MHS Annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
Advisor Debra Noennig and a team of MHS faculty welcomed students and families for a physically distanced event to celebrate the 44 students (including 3 new senior inductees and 19 junior inductees) who make up the 2020-21 MHS Chapter of the National Honor Society.
Congratulations to all of our new inductees!
