Hello Winchester Families,

It is hard to believe we are planning for the last three weeks of school.

Early next week we will be sending out an email to our families containing a schedule with times and directions on picking up student belongings from the building during the first week of June. We will include information on how to pick up medications and drop off library books and classroom materials you may have at home.

To our 5th grade parents, the virtual 5th grade celebration is at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, June 10th. Additional plans for celebrating our 5th graders are in the works and will be shared with families soon!

Thank you all for another fantastic week of learning and growing together!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Take care and be well,

Kelly Lindsay, Principal

Just a reminder...Winchester Playground is Closed

We completely understand that the Stay at Home order issued by our Governor during this challenging time is extremely difficult for you and our students, and that part of our being as humans is socializing with each other. As part of the order, Governor Whitmer has encouraged families and individuals to get outside, take walks, etc., but the order does not allow for large gatherings, or gatherings at parks and playgrounds, which includes on our school playgrounds.

In accordance with the Governor’s Stay Safe. Stay Home. Executive Order, and by Order of the Oakland County Health Division, Northville Public Schools has closed all of our school playgrounds and fields, including ALL play structures. Student safety and well being is at the forefront of all we do for our students both at Silver Springs and across Northville Public Schools. We are asking you to do everything you can to slow the spread. We appreciate your help in keeping each other safe and healthy.

Conferences

Due to the school closure, we will not be holding traditional spring parent teacher conferences. Classroom teachers will be reaching out to you to offer an opportunity to conference with them should you desire, after you have reviewed the report card.

If you would like to speak with any of the humanities or support teachers please email the specific teacher to set up a day and time to meet with them.

COVID-19 Grading Procedures and Parent Supports NPS Families,

As we continue to move forward with new learning under the Continuity of Learning Plan, the following information will bring clarity around the question of grading during this time as well as the available technology and parent supports we have and will continue to put in place.

The NPS COVID-19 Grading Procedures, as published on April 15, 2020, are based on guidance provided in the Executive Order. We believe these grading practices provide students with the most flexibility while still ensuring that no child will be academically harmed as a result of the traditional model school closing required by law. Please contact your teacher or building principal if you have any questions about this grading procedure or need further information.

With the help of many NPS teachers, we have developed a parent learning portal that provides you with a variety of useful resources designed to support and assist you during this remote learning period. If you have any questions, or would like to submit a request for resource support, please navigate to the submit a question under the FAQ button found on the parent learning portal. We hope you find this helpful as you partner with us in this new learning process.

MiStar Parent Portal Email Addresses
