The RHE Rattler
March 25, 2022
A Note from Mrs. Frankhouser
Don't forget about the Son VIP Glow Party Tonight!
You should be getting your complimentary copy of The Wild Robot today so that we can engage in a community reading event together. THANK YOU for participating!
I have never seen children more excited than our first graders today as they were leaving for their very first field trip! It was a roaring success!
We'll Kick Off our very first Wildly Important Campus-wide Goal (WIG) on April 1st.
We would LOVE IT if everyone could try to get here on time in the mornings. What we see is that there is no line early in the drop off timeframe and then everyone comes close to 7:40 and it makes lots of kids late. If more people could come earlier, we can have a smooth start to our school day.
As always, THANK YOU for all of your support.
CAREER DAY WAS INCREDIBLE!
One Community, One School, One Book
This week Mrs. McMillin talked to all classes about the book The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Here's the publisher's summary of the book:
Can a robot survive in the wilderness? When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is all alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is--but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a violent storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island's unwelcoming animal inhabitants. As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home--until, one day, the robot's mysterious past comes back to haunt her. From bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator Peter Brown comes a heartwarming and action-packed novel about what happens when nature and technology collide.
Every family will receive a copy of the book, and we as a campus will be reading the book together beginning next Monday, March 28th.
Kids will be bringing their books home today. One book per family. THANK YOU RHE PTO for funding this fun community activity!

Dear 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Parents,
We are proud to host award-winning author Chris Barton at our school! He will present to 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students on April 20th. Would your child like to have him autograph a book? If so, you may use the link below to order from Book People!
Field Trips Coming Up!
- There is limited space on some field trips.
- Students on field trips are at school. They MUST stay with the school group at all times. Parents attending the trip may not take their child from the group for any reason including but not limited to a special treat, special lunch, souvenir, errand etc.
- All students attending the trip must go on the bus and return to school on the bus.
- No siblings may attend.
As you can imagine, safety is our top priority on trips. Teachers and school personnel are 100% responsible for all students at all times. Thank you for helping!

The STAAR Test
Our testing landscape is changing this year. We have a new test vendor and with that comes some changes in the way items are assessed. All testing is online. Our Rattlers participated in a practice "interim assessment" right before spring break that gave them needed practice with the testing platform and gave teachers valuable feedback on their progress.
For more information, click here for the TEA Division of Student Assessment.
