Lounsberry Hollow News and Notes

Message from March 24th

We are starting to see an increase in student conflict over text messaging and social media. Our youngsters are becoming more and more tech savvy. As adults, keeping up with current trends and concerns regarding technology can be overwhelming. Common Sense Media is a wonderful resource for parents. There is a Parent Tip section that is broken down by age and platform so you can get answers to your questions on just about all things tech and media. If your child has a device or access to the Internet, I would consider taking a look at this resource https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ .

Wednesday, March 29th is an early dismissal day for students. We will dismiss at 12:20.

If you are picking up your children at the end of the school day, please remember to enter it in Genesis or call the main office before noon.

Please remind your children that they should not be wearing hats or hoods during the school day.

Remember that we will continue to go outside for recess, so please make sure your children are dressed for the weather.

The lost and found is overflowing. Please have your children check in the cafeteria for any lost items. Any unclaimed items will be donated.

MicroPets in STEM

In our club, Girls Who Code, the fifth graders made MicroPets using microbits that Miss Leitner was sent through the Computer Science Workshop she'd been attending. The girls created pet boxes, coded the microbits to show emotions so that when it sensed a movement, the microbit shows it through a smile, sad face, or scared face.

Family Game Night

On January 12th families from Glen Meadow and Lounsberry were invited to attend Family Game Night at LHS. Mr. Jeff Veley shared his findings and solutions to improve our students social and emotional health. His SQUABBLES program is a researched based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program that takes a psychologically sound approach to minimizing aggression at school, at home, and online. We have been starting to implement some of his techniques here at LHS.
