From The Desk Of Your Principal:
Dear RMS Families,
Welcome to the month of November! I love this time of the year because we are all reminded to give thanks and appreciate all of the many blessings bestowed upon us. Diving into the second quarter of the year, I am amazed with our school’s accomplishments thus far. Last week, I reflected not only on how far we have come as a school team, but also how far our students have come. Our awards assembly is a tribute to the growth made this year. It is a great thing when we can celebrate over two hundred students achieving academically and recognize students from each grade level going above and beyond to demonstrate the Senator STRONG Way!
As we settle in the 2nd quarter, it is important that families have reviewed the report cards and connected with specific teachers to develop a plan of success for their students. It is critical to maintain communication with your student's teachers to finish the semester strong. As stated above, we had over two hundred academic awards given out and our goal is to double that number by the end of the semester. Please let our school team know how we can further support your student.
PCSSD Middle School Reading Challenge is underway and boy do I love a good competition that has purpose, and also, can yield positive rewards! Beginning the week of November 11, RMS will implement our Senator Strong Reading Challenge! Guardians, please insure that your student is reading nightly and logging the information. Our Social Studies Team will head this Reading Challenge in their classrooms. At the end of the 7 week challenge, the school with the most minutes read will receive a field trip of their choosing to celebrate (Movie Tavern, Dave & Buster’s, Trampoline Park etc…). While we plan to initiate this through the Social Studies classes, it is our collective responsibility to support and encourage students to read on a nightly basis as this is the best way to improve comprehension skills. We look forward to disaggregating the grade level data to determine the grade that reads more as well as the students that go above and beyond the expected minutes! This should be fun!!!
Have a great month of November and enjoy the beginning of the holiday season.
Sincerely,
Ms. Appiah-McNulty

Greetings Senators!
We have had a wonderful first nine weeks here at Robinson Middle School and look forward to closing out the year SENATOR STRONG!! This month we are celebrating National Career Development Month. November 11-15 is National Career Development week and November 13, 2019, we will celebrate career development day.
Students currently in Ms. Bailey’s career development classes will receive a letter to take home to parents and will be able to schedule career conferences on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 8am-3pm and Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 11am-5pm in the counseling office. These conferences will benefit 8th grade students and their parents in providing resources for high school and beyond.
The counseling office will be in 6th and 8th grade classrooms this month to administer the Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment. This survey covers questions cover alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and family and community factors related to substance use and abuse. The survey is voluntary. If for any reason you do not wish your child to participate, please complete and return the denial of permission slip to the guidance office.
Student council elections for 6th and 7th grade representative have been extended to Thursday, November 14th. If your child wishes to participate, they must bring their signed form and teacher recommendations in by November 8, 2019. The guidance office will bring the candidates in to record videos about themselves which will be posted on the Senator Stroll page for the entire student body. Students will vote on our Senator Scroll page November 14th.
The counseling department will be out at training on November 15, 2019 and November 19, 2019 and will be closed on those days.
We hope everyone has a safe and Happy Fall break November 25-29!!!
