City Year and SAGA Innovations Resource Fair
4 - 5 pm
Alumni Hall, Room 219
A recruiter from both City Year Chicago and SAGA Innovations invite you to join them for a resource fair. They will provide content on their organizations and have service alumni available to talk with.
SAGA Innovations helps students succeed academically. Students in participating schools receive personalized instruction in their regular school day in groups of two from professional, full-time Tutoring Fellows. In addition to academic instruction, tutors mentor students on the behaviors, skills, attitudes, and strategies that are critical to academic achievement. They provide regular communication to families, keeping them engaged in their children’s learning. They address the needs of chronically under-performing students in a way that schools are not able to, given school schedule and staffing constraints.

On faculty since 1998, Berlin is a Professor of English, and serves as the associate director of the Program in Creative Writing and chair of the Department.
Dutchman
7:30 - 8:30 pm
CFA, Studio Theatre
Written by: Amiri Baraka
Directed by: Joel Willison
The Dutchman is a searing two-character confrontation that begins playfully but builds rapidly in suspense and symbolic resonance. Set on a New York subway train, the play opens with a well-dressed, intellectual, young African American man named Clay absorbed in reading a magazine. He is interrupted by Lula—a flirtatious, beautiful white woman a bit older than he. As Lula suggestively slices and eats an apple, she and Clay tease each other with bantering talk that becomes more and more personal, until they finally confront one another.
