On behalf of Penny Road PTA, we are sincerely grateful for all the wonderful families at our school.

Chess Club
Books and Beyond
Kindergarten and 1st grade parents!
The Books and Beyond program kicked off on Monday, October 2! Make sure to set your goals and help encourage your budding readers to get started!
Some fun suggestions to help make this reading journey fun:
-Have your child decide how many sheets he/she would like to turn in on a monthly basis and set a reasonable goal. Remember this is intended to be a fun opportunity to read!
-Pick out books to read with your child (chapter books/ books to be read to him/her)
-Plan whether you or your child will fill in the lines (based on child’s ability to write)
-Set a goal to HAVE FUN while reading!
Tracking sheets can be dropped off in the classroom or in the main office in the Books and Beyond box. Make copies, print copies and have the tracking sheets ready! One sheet came home last week! You can find more at: www.pennyroadpta.com; under the PTA info tab.
Best wishes to all the readers as they set forth on a journey to outer space!
WCPSS Families can begin using bus tracker
Your family can now use the free bus tracking system called Here Comes the Bus (HCTB).
Here Comes the Bus is an easy-to-use website and app that enables you to see the location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer. HCTB allows you know when the bus is near your stop.
You can sign up for Here Comes the Bus on-line. You will need the district code and your student’s ID number to sign up. The WCPSS school code is 67500. For your smartphone or tablet, download the Here Comes the Bus app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Once activated, you can customize or edit certain features, including how the app will communicate with you and the size of the notification radius.
Once you are logged into your account, the link to HCTB customer support can be found by selecting Help. Additional resources can be found there as well.
Questions or concern related to bus service issues should be directed to www.wcpss.net/transportation.
WCPSS Transportation makes bus substitutions when preventative maintenance is due and in response to the management of drivers. When a substitution is made, some features of the app may not work.
