SJS Peek at the Week
Week of September 9th, 2019
Third week of school....
Our third week of school was short but productive. We had our Opening Day school mass on Tuesday, where we remembered Ms. Opalka, a former teacher of SJS who passed away over the summer. We also had band instrument trials and band registration for 4-8th grade students. The turnout for band this year was exceptional, we will have enough students to have a beginner as well as an intermediate class. The girls volleyball team among others represented our school by leading the Labor Day Parade last Sunday. The girls have also been playing some great volleyball. They are learning the fundamentals of the sport and important skills like practicing good sportsmanship with each other as well as their opponents! GO CHARGERS! Mrs. Tellez and myself attended the Fiestas Patrias festival at the parish over the weekend and sold popcorn. One of our students Jade Rodriguez participated in the festivities aspiring to be Queen. Jade worked really hard to raise funds for our parish. Amazing job, Jade!
Our first PTO meeting is this Monday, September, 9th, @ 6PM room 8! We can't wait to start planning fun events for the kiddos this year but we need your help!! ALL ARE WELCOME!
Please continue to use this weekly newsletter as our major way to communicate from school to home. This newsletters intended purpose is to help our families keep up-to-date on current school related events and important dates to mark in your calendars. The first month of school we will continue to print the newsletter and distribute paper copies to your children every Friday. Mid-September the newsletter will be available in a digital form only, hoping to help reduce the quantity of paper we purchase. We will post weekly newsletters to class Dojo as well as Facebook for easy convenience and accessibility. Please continue to call me or the office if any questions or concerns arise. Thank you for entrusting your child/children to our care.
May God continue to bestow his blessings upon us all!
