A MESSAGE FROM MR. COLE
Hello Pine Road Families!
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful break and were able to take some time to recenter and reconnect with loved ones and recharge as we head into the second half of the 2022-2023 School Year!
Please plan to join us on Monday the 16th as we give back to the community during our MLK day of service. More information (and volunteer sign-up) can be found here.
Additionally, as last month's newsletter mentioned, the cold weather has arrived! Please be sure that your children come to school prepared to go outside for recess. Students WILL be going outside as often as possible. Students will not be allowed to stay indoors because they are not appropriately dressed, so please have coats, hats, and gloves ready! Details about recess and weather policies can be found in our Handbook and are included below:
- “Feels Like” Temperature is between 21 and 89 degrees.
- “Feels Like” Temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees or between 90 and 95 degrees.
- “Feels Like” Temperature is below 15 degrees or above 95 degrees.
Sincerely,
Scott Cole

Giant Round Up at The Register
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am pleased to share some good news at this special time of the year. The GIANT
Company is partnering with Lower Moreland to help support children in the school
district facing food insecurity.
Beginning January 1 through February 28, 2023, anyone shopping at GIANT,
MARTIN’S, or GIANT Heirloom Market stores will be invited to “ROUND UP AT THE
REGISTER” their grocery purchase by donating to the program. The GIANT Company
will also include CHOICE Rewards points that are converted to grocery dollars.
The GIANT Company will directly support customer’s generosity with an
additional $250,000 donation for local school food and meal programs!
Please spread the word to ensure the program is a great success. From groceries to
families in need, snacks, to clearing a delinquent lunch account, the funds will provide
support for children dealing with food insecurity.
The district looks forward to partnering with The GIANT Company in the fight against
childhood hunger.
Thank you for your support,

Name Coach
Students in grades K-5 will use the NameCoach web application to record their name. Teachers will share a link with students in Google Classroom that will provide access to the recording tool. While this tool is available to all district students and employees, use of the NameCoach tool is completely optional.
Supporting New Families at Pine Road
In our district, we are lucky to have students and families who are from diverse cultures. Did you know that in our district, we have over 30 languages spoken?
To better support our new families, we would like to invite you to participate in serving as a mentor. As a mentor, you would be responsible for explaining school routines and special events and answering any questions that arise.
For those families who do not speak English as their native language, working with a mentor family who speaks the same language could be very helpful in learning to navigate our school system.
If you are interested in volunteering your time, please complete THIS form. New families would contact you upon their arrival to the district.
Cafeteria Reminder
Lunch menus are posted on a new interactive website, Nutrislice. Our innovative and interactive site and mobile app make our school menus more convenient and informative than ever before! Download the Nutrislice App from the App Store or get it on Google Play and search Lower Moreland.
Friendly reminder that the universal free lunch has ended, however starting October 1st free breakfast will be returning! Students that would like a free breakfast in the morning will walk straight to the cafeteria upon arrival. Students can eat breakfast in the cafeteria and granola bars, muffins, and cereal bars are also available if your student would like to save their breakfast for snack time.
Information on the Free or Reduced Lunch Prices can be found on the nutrition page on our LMTSD website.
