Winter Update

Welcome Home Basketball

After a long renovation project that was like a roller coaster our gymnasium reopened to rave reviews. The most common reaction was "wow!". Many visitors couldn't believe it was the same place. We look forward to many exciting games in the near future.

The Boys basketball team is heading into the District tournament. While the team would like to see a few more W's they can be very proud of the effort that is displayed every night. If you play the Bluebirds you better play well because our team is going to give you everything we have. This team has the potential to surprise many in tournament play.

The Girls basketball team is in position to compete for the Regional Championship. Our girls hope to continue to improve and make a run at the region and make the state tournament this year! If the girls make it to state they will be fortunate enough to be able to play the state tournament at NKU as they are now the host for the Sweet 16.

Bowling Update

Our bowling team continues to dominate! We are having a great season led by Jake Farley. The team had an impressive win over Elder among others at the Western Bowl Championships. Jake teammate Andy Campbell met in the regional finals where Farley came from behind to earn the championship honor. Katelyn Schneider, Farley, and Campbell all advance to the state tournament in February. Both Boys and girls team are Regional Champs and have advanced to the State Tournament. Good luck at State! #bowlingbirds #strikingbirds

Congratulations also to Caroline Sand and Owen Downard who are the Girl and Boy NKAC 50 Freestyle Champions!! On to Region and State!

Coaches of the Year!

Congrats Coach Baioni and Coach Schmidt for being selected as the KY Coach of the Year by the NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) for 2015 seasons.

Indoor Track

Mikayla had a great weight competition AT BGSU that places her 4th out of 30. She threw an all time #1 Ky Indoor State Record of 43' 1/2", places her among the top throwers in the US. At OSU, Mikayla took 2nd in the shot with a new school record of 36'7" and 3rd in the hammer with a throw of 36'5". We look forward to a great season from Mikayla!

Cheer and Dance

Both Cheer and Dance continue to have an awesome year. Recently the Dance team captured the regional Pom and Hip Hop Championship. The Cheer team won the Stunt Championship for the first time in school history!
