Short Week Lights
Making the most out of our four day weekend
The start of a nice break!
Hi All, here's to you and your families to enjoy some time together. I hope the SMORE finds you and yours getting a little relaxing time in or catching up on things you want to get done. We will see you on Tuesday, February 24th.
Jumping for Healthy Heart!
Our annual American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart was another big success! Fundraising for research to continue the critical work toward healthier hearts is one of the reasons we conduct this event. The other reason is to introduce and continue to reinforce the importance of fitness as a staple of our lives. Wendy Monson and Sarah Luberda conduct one of the most successful events in the entire state! Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped to make the afternoon a blast for the kids and even this "older" jumper who had a couple of hops in him. Great time!

Getting loosened up
Here we go, ready to hop!
Reading and getting the background that helps me learn.
Here are two pictures that are indicative of a couple of things. One, providing the means for the students to get background knowledge to understand the topic better. Two, the children know how to get this done together, without supervision, so they can share what they know together. These first graders are learning about Rosa Parks, a pioneer for civil rights, prior to their guided reading group with Mrs. Crozier.
Conferences are still the best way to learn about your children
This invitation comes with a heartfelt recommendation to join your child (ren)'s teacher to have a conversation about progress, goals, successes, challenges, and personal growth since October. This is an extraordinary opportunity to sit face to face with the educator who joins your child in the most important hours of the day. Over the years, minutes spent with parents were invaluable for me as an educator. Please try to make the time for 15 minutes to learn how your kids are doing-beyond report cards, MAP or F+P scores. You won't regret it. Please sign up for a time on March 5th or 10th.

Learning occurs in many places as long as we allow ourselves to be ready for the opportunity. Give new learning a chance!
