Oral Health Screenings
All district students will be screened unless there is a parent/guardian notification otherwise.
In addition to the oral health screenings, fluoride varnish applications will also be available at no cost to the student. Application takes less than one minute, is painless, and works to strengthen the tooth & prevent cavities. If your child has a dental home and receives regular fluoride varnish at their dentist's office, you may choose to decline the fluoride services.
In order for your student to receive the fluoride application at no cost, the "Consent for Fluoride Application" form must be completed and returned to school by August 25, 2017.
If you do not want your child to receive the oral health screening, you must sign the Opt Out form, located in the office. This also must be returned by August 25th, 2017.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our school nurse, Jayme, at 243-2114.

Reminder
Human Sexuality Education
Physical growth and development covers the subject traditionally thought of as human sexuality. The state of Kansas has mandated that the teaching of this subject be provided to the students of all Kansas schools.
We use "The Always Changing Program" for both boys and girls. Topics we discuss are:
*understanding the physical and emotional changes experienced and acknowledge these changes as a normal part of growth and development.
*learn the physiology and correct terminology of both male and female reproductive systems.
*understand that personal hygiene is each individual's responsibility.
In addition, the program helps girls:
*understand the menstrual cycle.
*understand what to expect during a period.
*learn how to manage periods while continuing with normal activities.
If you (parents/guardians) would prefer to teach this subject to your own children, or find the subject matter especially sensitive, you may have your child excused from this class. To excuse your child from this class, please sign the Opt Out Form and return it to school by Thursday, August 31. Forms can be obtained in the CMS Office.
If you have any specific questions, please contact CMS at 243-2114 and ask to speak with Mrs. Blackwood or Mr. Meyer.
D.A.R.E.
The program is designed to provide your child with educational information about the many dangers of drugs and will give them several strategies to use in order to maintain a drug free lifestyle.
Although the program is supported by the staff and administration of USD 333, it is optional. If you do not wish for your child to participate, your child will be removed from the classroom for an alternative activity. D.A.R.E. opt out forms are available in the CMS office. These will need to be signed and returned prior to the start of the program.
