MAP Testing
Tuesday April 22- Friday April 24 Communication Arts MAP Test
Tuesday April 28- Wednesday April 29th- Science MAP Test
Tuesday May 5- Thursday May 7th- Math MAP Test
Please be sure that your child is at school each day and on time, as we start testing first thing in the morning. Also, please be sure that your child goes to bed at a decent time and has a healthy breakfast. Being alert and full go a long way in helping kids be focused and put forth their best effort.
03/22/15 What we are Learning this Week!!
Reading-
- This week we will be reviewing theme and figurative language to help us prepare for our state assessments in the upcoming weeks.
- I can determine meaning of words including figurative language (metaphors/similes).
- I can determine theme of a story, drama, or poem.
Writing-
This week we will be conducting research to help us strengthen our arguments in our persuasive writing pieces.
- I can create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support my purpose.
- I can state an opinion (thesis statement).
Math-
This week we will take our test on our graphs and probability unit. We will be starting our geometry unit also.
- I can classify two-dimensional figures by their attributes.
- I can explain two-dimensional attributes can belong to several two-dimensional figures.
- I can identify subcategories using two-dimensional attributes.
- I can group together all shapes that share a single property, and then among these shapes, group together those that share a second property.
Science
We will be starting Life Science this week. We will talking about food chains and the different structures animals have to help them survive.
- I can compare structures that serve similar functions for animals belonging to different vertebrate classes.
- I can explain how similarities are the basis for classification.
- I can distinguish between producers and consumers.
