Bransford Blast
April 9, 2017
Dear Bransford Parents,
In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 5 (HB 5), which made significant changes to curriculum and graduation requirements, as well as, the assessment program and accountability system. In addition to the new graduation requirements, HB 5 also includes a requirement for school districts to conduct a community or parent engagement survey and report results to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The information collected in this survey will help us highlight areas of excellence, as well as recognize areas of growth as we strive to Build Excellent Schools Together.
The survey link included in this message may be used multiple times in the instance that you have students on different campuses and will be active from April 7-28, 2017. Once you click on the link, you may select if you would like to complete the survey in English or Spanish.

I want to thank you for your participation in this survey and your continued support of Bransford and GCISD.

Career Day
Kicks For Kids
There are so many kids in our community that can’t afford to participate in sports because equipment is too expensive. That's when I, Ashwin Benegal, 5th grader at Bransford Elementary came up with the idea for Kicks for Kids! I am accepting old sports equipment, will polish it up, and donate it to Grace so every child can have the opportunity to be involved in sports.
When: Collections begin April 3-22. Drop off all sports donations to the Kicks for Kids box located in the front foyer!
We accept…
Cleats
Football Helmets
Football pads
Shin-guards
Keeper gloves
Tennis racquets
Basball gloves
Baseball bats
Uniforms
Any other sports equipment
If you have any questions ask 5th Grader Ashwin Benegal or Mrs. King.
Every Donation Counts!
Earth Day Recycling Project
Did you know the average American throws away 82 pounds of clothing a year? This year for Earth Day, the PTA will be doing a fundraiser/recycling project. We will be collecting shoes, clothes, and textiles (sheets, blankets, etc...) in bins in the entry area. The items donated can be gently to well used!! All levels accepted!! The grade level with the most pounds per person will win a popsicle party at recess so hold onto these things as you start your spring cleaning. The contest will run April 3rd - April 21st.
We are partnering with Recycle2support and Keep Colleyville Beautiful to recycle all donated items.
In addition to the grade-level competitions, we will be collecting used sporting goods. See above for more information on the project.

Rachel's Challenge 5K
Spring has Sprung?!?!
The Bransford Garden Club will begin our spring meetings on Wednesday March 1st at 7 am. This spring we will continue to learn more about growing our own vegetables by planting, caring for, and harvesting green beans and squash. We will also learn about the importance of bees and other flying insects with our butterfly garden. We look forward to seeing all of our little gardeners the first Wednesday of each month at 7 am: 3/1, 4/5, and 5/3.
If you as a family or Bransford organization would like to help with the garden, but can not make our meetings, you still can! We welcome your help by watering and weeding our garden on the weekend. Here is the sign up genius for the spring: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054baaa922aa8-garden
