Safety Reminders from CISD Police
There have been recent incidents of vehicle burglaries on a CISD campus in The Woodlands and in the neighboring community. The police department is working diligently to identify and locate the person(s) responsible and are increasing patrols of the parking lots to reduce further instances of vehicle burglaries. The Conroe I.S.D. Police Department would like to remind all employees to take the following steps in protecting your property and to discourage would-be criminals from committing auto burglaries:
- If you see any suspicious activity or individuals, please contact CISD Police Dispatch immediately when you feel safe to do so by dialing (936)709-8911 or 9-1-1.
- Do not leave valuable items in your vehicle. If you must, then make sure they are not visible.
- Close all windows and lock all doors before leaving your vehicle.
- Make a copy of your registration and insurance, and keep them in your wallet or purse. Then remove all forms of identification from your vehicle.
- Do not leave garage door openers in parked vehicles.
- Don’t think your dark tinted windows will hide your valuables. Thieves often use flashlights to see through tint.
- Never leave your keys in the car or leave the vehicle running while unattended. Also, don’t hide spare keys in or under the vehicle. Over 25% of all stolen vehicles had the keys left in the vehicle.
- If you have an alarm system on your vehicle, use it.
- Securing items in your trunk is a good way to deter theft, but don’t place your property in the trunk at the time you park. Thieves will be watching for that, and can later enter your vehicle and open the trunk to steal your property.
- Park in well-lit areas and be alert to your surroundings.
- Use anti-theft devices. The use of devices such as a steering wheel lock, electronic alarm, an ignition kill-switch, gas cap lock, window V.I.N. etching and a vehicle tracking device all protect your vehicle and deter vehicle theft.
- Document the serial numbers of your property or etch some type of identifying information on the property to help locate and identify it later in case of theft.
This is a good reminder about the importance of keeping personal items and valuables in safe and locked places in offices and classrooms as well.

Children Learn What They Live
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn. If children live with hostility, they learn to fight. If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive. If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves. If children live with ridicule, they learn to be shy. If children live with jealousy, they learn what envy is. If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty. If children live with tolerance, they learn to be patient. If children live with encouragement, they learn to be confident. If children live with praise, they learn to appreciate. If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves. If children live with acceptance, they learn to find love in the world. If children live with recognition, they learn to have a goal. If children live with sharing, they learn to be generous. If children live with honesty and fairness, they learn what truth and justice are. If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those around them. If children live with friendliness, they learn that the world is a nice place in which to live. If children live with serenity, they learn to have peace of mind.
With what are your children living?

After School Tutorials
Since after school tutorials begin this week, we will need K-2 support from 3:00-3:30 on Wednesdays on the 3rd/4th playground. The teachers who are tutoring will not be on duty at that time so we will need “all hands on deck” every Wednesday on the porch and in the cafeteria also.

"Feels Like" Temperature
We will be using Weather Underground for our daily weather check.
Please use this link and/or app. Graystone Hills has a weather station here so we will use this unless it goes down.
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/tx/conroe/KTXCONRO198
The app looks like this. Our ZIP code is 77304 then you may have to select the weather station "Graystone Hills".
Come see me if you have trouble.
If the "feels like temp" is 95-98 degrees, you may have 15 minutes of outside recess instead of 30.
If the "feels like temp" is 99 or greater there is no outside recess.
