SME Weekly Update

February 3, 2023

Lancer Families,

We had another wonderful week at East!

The SME Theatre program debuted this year’s musical, Nickelodeon, The SpongeBob Musical this week. We welcomed our elementary students to a special showing on Tuesday and the show opened to the public on Thursday. Tickets are still available this Friday at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

We are very excited for Sweetheart week next week! The week will feature spirit days, an all-school assembly, and the Sweetheart Dance on Saturday, Feb. 11th, from 8-10 pm.

Students have been working diligently over the past several weeks to update their Individual Plan of Study (IPS) as required by the state of Kansas. Students have worked in their Advisory class to update their plans with success. All students who have completed their 2/9/23 IPS Check in Xello, will earn a treat at lunch on Thursday, Feb. 9th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

NEW INFORMATION FROM THE NURSE...

Keeping our Students Healthy

In SMSD, we have begun to see increases in absence due to illness; with a few physician diagnosed illnesses and many generalized symptoms.

One of the most important things to help decrease the spread of illness is for those who are not feeling well to stay home. If your child has a temperature of over 100.0 or has vomited or has had diarrhea, they must stay home. Students may return to school when they have been free from fever (without medication), vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours.

Your child may also be ill, but without these symptoms. They may have a sore throat, headache, cough, or generally not feel well. If you suspect illness, please keep your child home. If in doubt about sending your child to school, contact the school nurse or your child’s doctor.
