Fifth Grade Celebration

KRS fifth grade families and friends convened together to celebrate our 2019 fifth graders. The fifth graders shared their most precious memories and sang a special fifth grade song. We wish every fifth grader the very best as they depart KRS to enjoy summer and then begin their sixth grade year.

Summer Reading Challenge

Reading specialist Mrs. Sims visited every classroom to distribute the Summer Reading Program packets for the students to take home. New this year, KRS/TJS media specialist Mrs. Taylor included a Capstone interactive website address, where students may access thousands of books on-line. This website offers the student the option to not only read books on their independent level, but to listen to them as well. In September, we are looking forward to hearing about the books your children read over the summer. We will be celebrating our summer reading accomplishments during an assembly in September!

More Than Madison and Community Service

On June 6th, the KRS fifth grade students presented their More Than Madison projects! The focus this year was poverty awareness. Not only did they research the causes of poverty in New Jersey and around the world, but they also coordinated with Walgreens in a community service project, Red Nose Day. They raised $1000.00 to go to children in need. Great work fifth graders!

Field Day Fun!

Thank you to teacher Mr. Abbondandolo and the parent volunteers for planning fun and engaging field days for the students!

June 11th Board of Education Meeting - Celebrating Two Exceptional Professionals

What a privilege it was to speak about Teacher of the Year Miss Alyssa Fine and Educational Services Professional Mrs. Gerri Moran at the June 11th Madison School Board meeting. They both received gorgeous plaques from the Board of Education to recognize their amazing achievements. Their families were also in attendance to celebrate them. Congratulations Miss Fine and Mrs. Moran!

Bus Drills

Every school year we conduct two bus drills to teach and remind the students about bus safety. Thank you to bus driver Mr. Gaskin and Mr. Cecala for their assistance in teaching us about important bus safety information.

Garden Tasting

During both lunches, students tasted the delicious vegetables grown in the KRS garden. Thank you to our parent volunteers for preparing the vegetables for the students to taste.

Fifth Graders and Junior Achievement BizTown

Junior Achievement BizTown is an 8,000 square foot mini-city where students experience how the 'real world' works. The Kings Road School fifth grade students became JA BizTown 'citizens' for a day where they worked in one of 14 businesses, managed their personal and business finances, developed and sold products, held business meetings, paid taxes and donated to charity. The JA BizTown experience brought the 'real world' to life for our fifth grade students as they participated in this interactive, project-based program. Students learned to manage their personal finances as well as the importance of becoming a successful professional within our community.
