Hawk Talk
December 7-11, 2020
A Message from the Principal
Hobby Family,
Please make sure you have created a Home Access account.
The Home Access Center (HAC) allows parents to access grades and attendance information. Your username is your email address and your password is the temporary password you received by email. You will be required to change it the first time you log in.
Middle School and High School students can access HAC by using their student ID number (with the "s") as the username and their student password. If they do not know their student password, they can speak with the TSS or a teacher at their school.
To request a HAC account or report a problem, complete this online form and a technician will contact you via email or phone within two business days.
Due to data privacy concerns, some third-party "Apps" may not work with NISD's Home Access Center (HAC) (even if the app claims support). Northside can only provide help to those using the official HAC website.
As Always, You Matter!
Praise, Promote & Protect.

Health Information from the Nurse
Hobby Clinic: All 7th graders are required to have two booster shots, one TDAP and one MCV4. Usually these shots are given at the 11 year old check up. Please send your copy to tracy.solis@nisd.net.
Screening Updates for the 2020-2021 School Year:
All 7th graders will be tested for hearing and vision on January 5th and 6th, if your student is a virtual learner please email me to make an appointment for a private test or you can email me your last test results from the doctor.
Scoliosis checks will be conducted soon on all 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys. This is a visual screening of the back by the nurse. If your student is virtual please feel free to send the doctors notice they have been tested or please send a note or email stating you would not like them to be tested. If you would like them to be tested, please email or call the clinic for an appointment.
Please call the clinic with any questions! Thank you!
Early Dismissal days for Planning
We are in the midst of a school year unlike any other. For Northside teachers, the challenges are especially demanding as you must balance the academic needs of both in-person and virtual learners.
Beginning in January 2021, six Teacher Planning Time/Student Early Dismissal Days have been added to this year’s school calendar. On these days, teachers at every level will have an additional three hours of planning time. The dates are Wednesdays on Jan. 13, Jan. 27, Feb. 24, March 24, April 28, and May 19.
Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:45 a.m., middle schools at 12:40 p.m., and high schools at 1 p.m. For additional details, click here.

High School Registration- Magnet Schools
Applications will open on Nov. 30 for our seven high school magnet programs. We need your continued assistance in spreading the word about these seven unique opportunities. Please continue to share information about the high school magnets on your campus social media platforms, websites, and newsletters. A schedule of in person open houses and virtual open houses will soon be posted on each campus website as well as the district website.

N-Genius- Help with Devices
Northside now has N-genius, a “Geek-Squad” located at the Kelly Smith Technology Center
to support student issues with the school issued technology. Therefore, Hobby will no longer swap out chromebooks. If a student’s Chromebook is damaged or malfunctions, contact the student hotline at (210) 397-0020 to schedule an Ngenius appointment. If needed, while the Chromebook is under repair, Hobby will issue a loaner Ipad so the student can access Schoology and be marked present in their classes.
Secondary Online Student Homework Support
Secondary Online Student Homework Support provided free of charge to all NISD students after hours and weekends.
