A Message From Dr. Toni Hicks

Hello Cougar Nation!

Excitement is in the air!

We could feel it at Convocation yesterday as we launched the start of a great school year in Jarrell ISD.

It was wonderful to have the district together in our beautiful auditorium. We appreciated the vendors from around our city who provided resources and services for our staff. Special thanks to Gehan homes and Advisa Mortgage for sponsoring the delicious breakfast. Also want to celebrate our cheerleaders from both the middle and high school, the mascots, and the Cougar band for joining in the festivities to welcome all our staff. They set the stage for a year filled with energy and spirit. We heard inspiring words of encouragement from our teachers of the year: Michelle West and Tara Granberry; Athletic Director Marty Murr; and Board President Crystal Phalen. There was so much cheering, and excitement for what the coming school year holds. It was a great morning. We appreciate everyone who helped make it all come together.

THANK YOU:

  • The Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees

  • GehanHomes and Advisa - breakfast sponsors

  • Scott Lanham and Frank Connelly

  • Kaila Coolidge and Heather Harris

  • Tara Granberry and Jamie Pruitt

  • Pattrick Vasquez and Matt Sarabia

  • Heather Bortz and the Teaching and Learning team

We have the absolute best staff here in Jarrell ISD. It has been evident by the enthusiasm and passion they are pouring into these days leading up to school.

In the next few days, teachers and campus staff will be putting the finishing touches in their classrooms getting everything just right for our kiddos. I know families are eager to meet their teachers, too. In fact, elementary students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and see their classrooms on Monday and Tuesday of next week. And of course, the first day of school will be Wednesday, August 18.

The school year is just about ready to begin and more great things are on the horizon for Jarrell ISD.

Please be on the lookout for more information about:

  • Meet-the-Cougars, August 20, Cougar Stadium, 7 p.m.

  • Homecoming Parade and Community Pep-rally in October

  • Groundbreaking for Elementary #3.

Have a great weekend!

Toni Hicks, Ed.D.
