"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
October 23, 2020
Dear Auburn Families,
Thanks to the families and teachers who attended the PTO meeting last night! There were some great suggestions for community activities as well as fundraisers. One thing that I really love about our PTO is that it is a true partnership between the families and the teachers. Our goal this year for the PTO is to support one another and keep us all connected.
The first activity that PTO has for all of you is a scavenger hunt! PTO is asking you to join in on some fun to pass the time while the weather is getting colder. The first five students who post a picture to our Facebook page with all of the items they found will win a prize that will be delivered to their house by a mystery Auburn staff member! Please see the list below to get started and keep an eye on the Facebook page, where we will announce the winners. I can't wait to see all of your Facebook posts!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jodie

A Healthy Halloween at Home
Halloween is coming up! This is an exciting holiday for children because they get to dress up and perhaps collect candy. If you celebrate Halloween, you know this holiday focuses on collecting and eating foods high in sugar, fat and calories BUT low in nutrients. Some suggestions:
If you give out candy, don’t buy it too far ahead of time since your family might end up snacking on it or even eating it all!
If your children go trick-or-treating, store any left over candy for another day in an airtight container or freeze it.
Avoid setting out large amounts of candy, as this might result in your child (or you!)Posiivity Project (P2) - Creativity
Creative people can look at the world in original ways.
They are open to new experiences, and have an
imaginative and independent thought process. They
generate lots of different ideas and can pursue them with
energy and enthusiasm. Creativity is a process that takes
courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the
world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.
Happy Birthday To You!

Veterans Day Celebration - Nov. 11
Celebrate Veterans Day with WAHS Avondale Community Radio. All day we will honor veterans with song dedications, live shows and recorded interviews. Be part of the celebration and honor a Veteran you know:
1) Dedicate a song or give a shout out to a Veteran. Include his/her full name, rank, branch, service dates and war or conflict if applicable.
2) If you are a veteran you can share your story or request a song that reminds you of your time served. (The song does not have to be military related). We want to share insight into the life of a soldier. We are also looking for veterans willing to be interviewed over the phone for recordings or live via Google Meet on Veterans Day.
If you have questions or submissions email station manager Marty Shafer at WAHS@avondaleschools.org. Tune in too for a special live interview at 6pm on the 11th with Siren and Team Honor! (Siren is a local band that wrote a song supporting Team Honor.)
