Knightly Update August 27, 2023
ACP High School - Edition Vol 3 Issue 8
________________________________________
Welcome to our first quarter spirit week!! It is always fun to showcase our school spirit and participate in the daily themes. I hope all our students consider participating, and show off that ACP pride! The daily themes are listed below. If you or your child have any questions about a day's theme, please have them email me or any member of the administrative team. While I want our students to have fun, it is important that appropriate attire standards be maintained and students wear clothing that is modest and proper at all times, so do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Have fun!
We've got a very busy week ahead with events taking place on our campus almost every day of the week. It is always exciting when the many activities start occurring. Please join me and our students, along with other ACP families, as we cheer on and celebrate our Knights as they represent our school. On Friday, we will celebrate and have some fun at our first quarter assembly and pep rally. This celebration will carry over to our family & friends tailgate Friday evening so come on out, have some fun, and join our student body and meet some other ACP families too while getting ready for some Friday Night Lights! I wish the best of luck to our badminton, cross country, flag football, football, freshmen tennis, golf, swim & dive, and volleyball athletes, and to the members of our academic decathlon, chess team, marching band, robotics team, spiritline, and speech & debate team as they begin their seasons and showcase their talents. I am excited to see you in action. As a reminder, please remember to cheer on our students in a positive manner while showing good character to our competitors too. Our school and student body have received accolades in the past about the sportsmanship and spirit our students and fans display, and I expect nothing less this year. Let's have fun celebrating together while cheering on our Knights in a positive, enthusiastic manner. Let's GO!!!
I hope you have a great week. I am excited to see our students in their tie dye tomorrow. Please contact me if you have any questions. Go, KNIGHTS!!

Principal

PSAT Important Reminders!!
Attention Knights! PSAT Fees are due September 11th to the bookstore or via Infinite Campus. Families must add the PSAT charge to the account themselves, the system does not automatically add the fee. Directions for how to complete this are listed in the “How To Pay Fees” document (below & attached).
If families would like for students to practice the PSAT before we take it on campus on October 24th, there are two options to do so:
- Visit the College Board website to see practice opportunities: PSAT/NMSQT Full-Length Practice Tests - SAT Suite (collegeboard.org)
- Revolution Prep is offering a practice PSAT opportunity for students to complete at home. Please scan the QR code on the attachment and register if you are interested.
Revolution Prep is also hosting an informational Webinar for parents in September. Please follow the instructions on that flyer to join the Webinar.
Reach out to Ludwig.Christine@cusd80.com with any questions regarding the PSAT

Fall break Program for all students’ ages 12-17 years old
Officer Bazzell and the Chandler Police Department would like to encourage parents to sign up their student for the Police Youth Academy this fall break. The Academy is a one-week program for youth between the ages of 12-17. It provides an opportunity for the youth to learn about various jobs and functions within the Chandler Police Department. Officers from the Traffic Unit, Patrol Division, Bike Team, K-9, Community Resources and Training Section instruct students. Students get involved with hands-on activities which provides them with a valuable learning experience and insight into police procedures, such as use of force, forensics, crime scene investigation and much more.
The Youth Academy was developed to provide awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement. The ultimate goal of the Youth Academy is to foster relationships that will bridge the gaps between law enforcement and youth while exposing them to a possible future career in law enforcement.
We are looking for students that may be interested in police work or kids interested learning about police work and/or how we do our job.
There is no charge for the Academy and lunch is provided. Space is limited and parents must register their child.
The Academy runs Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check the website for location details.
Program Date: October 2 to October 5, 2023
Registration opens on 9/01/23 @ 9:00 am!
For more details go to; https://chandlerazpd.gov/about/school-resource-officer-unit/youth-academy/.

Impact Scholarship Enrollment Information
Information about the Chandler Education Foundation's Impact Scholarship was shared in earlier editions of our Knightly Update. This week, additional information was shared with our school that we want all students to be aware of. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Ator.
IMPACT Chandler Scholars FAQ
- Chandler Education Foundation, as a 501(c)3 fundraising arm of the Chandler Unified School District, supports lifelong learning for students and teachers. Funds raised throughout the year particularly through the Winner’s Choice Car or Cash raffle, contribute to the scholarship fund.
- Students who enroll in the ICS program commit to maintain a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA as well as maintain 95% or great cumulative attendance
- Students also commit to performing and submitting 100 hours of qualified community service. Hours performed for the benefit of a religious organization are not eligible; service may be counted if an organization is performing an activity for the benefit of the great community (for example, food, clothing, or supply drives).
- Students must submit community service hours through Infinite Campus. Students are highly encouraged to do so as they accrue hours. Students are responsible to verify their hours are approved by Foundation staff and logged in Infinite Campus.
- 100 hours must be logged by April 1st of the student’s senior year.
- Students meeting all criteria are designated as IMPACT Chandler Scholars at graduation. Students receive a certificate and an honor cord.
- Qualified students may apply for the IMPACT Chandler Scholarship. A panel of volunteer’s reviews and score applications. Awards are based on available funds and the score received.
Enrollment FAQ
- Enrollment is open from the first day of a student’s freshman year until the last day of summer before students begin their sophomore year.
- Students must access the student participation Commitment Form, found in Infinite Campus (MORE) link. The form is listed as (IMPACT) under the students Impact Chandler Scholars link (see picture). This link is not found on the parent portal.
- The student will be asked to indicate whether they (1) agree to participate or (2) decline participation. They will then electronically sign and submit. We encourage them to print the form before submitting.
- A confirmation email is sent to the students and parent/guardian listed in Infinite Campus.
- Should they be any issue with the linked email for parents or guardians, students must follow up their site. The foundation does not have access to make changes to linked email.
- Parent/guardians have two (2) weeks to request changes (opt-in or decline), subsequently processed by CEF. The parents request will be accommodated, and students may be withdrawn from the program participation at any time.
To enroll, follow the steps in the graphics below.

Still time to Donate to Cash for Classrooms
While our week to focus on Cash for Classroom donations, there is still time to make a donation to help raise funds to support the Cash for Classrooms (CFC) program. Our instructors and students have greatly benefited from the Cash for Classrooms campaign in previous years, and your generosity directly contributed to these classroom and school-wide opportunities. The money raised from generous donors like you, goes directly back to the classroom, so please consider making a donation on behalf of ACPHS this week.
Many businesses support matches when donating to an approved 501(c)3. For more information, please contact the Foundation at ChandlerEdFoundation@cusd80.com.

The Prep PTO
The PREP PTO is the official parent/teacher organization of ACP High. Our role is to help support the staff, students, and faculty of ACP. School funds only go so far. We work closely with the administration to help determine the needs and then fund those needs. We support back-to-school events, teacher requests, general requests from the administration, graduation, and so much more. We support the entire school!
We do minimal fundraising throughout the year, so to assist us with our events and school support, we ask families to consider making a Booster donation.
Our suggested Booster Donation is:
$60 per student
$90 per family (2 or more students attending ACPHS)
Donations over $150 will receive an ACP Spirit T-shirt by the end of August.
Any donations to The Prep PTO are greatly appreciated but are not required.
The PrepPTO is a member of the Chandler School Boosters 501c3 non-profit organization. Your donation may be tax-deductible. Please consult your tax professional for information/clarification.
Thank you for your support.

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
