Chromebooks are Going Home at Harrison

Wylie ISD Families,

RE: Technology Chromebook One-to-One Program

In Wylie ISD, all secondary students have had access to Chromebooks in various content classes since 2015. Starting in 2017, our 5th-8th graders were issued a Chromebook to use throughout the entire school day. We are excited to announce for the 2021-2022 school year, we will continue to implement a one-to-one Chromebook program at our secondary campuses. The students in grades 5-8 will also be allowed to take the Chromebooks home.

Chromebooks will be distributed to students at the beginning of the school year after the parent and student sign a device agreement. Each campus will publish more information regarding device distribution. Students will be issued a Dell Chromebook along with a power adapter, cord, and protective case. Wylie ISD will require that Chromebook insurance be purchased prior to the deployment of the Chromebook to the student. For students in grades 5-8, the annual fee will be $30 per device. The insurance package covers any type of device malfunction, including:

· Hardware

· Accidental damage (drops/spills)

· Cracked screen

· Liquid submersion

· Power surge (lightning)

· Theft with a police report

· Vandalism

To learn more about the Wylie ISD 1:1 Chromebook Program, including information on the device agreement, insurance, device resources, and a FAQ section, please visit https://tinyurl.com/Wylie1to1.

Thank you for your support of the Wylie ISD 1:1 Chromebook Program. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your student’s campus principal.

Sincerely,

Christa Smyder, Principal

Harrison Traffic Pattern

Harrison is very busy before and after school. Our doors open at 7:45 am and we ask that students not be dropped off before. Bus riders will be dropped off at the main entrance. Carpool students will take the loop around the school and be dropped off at the cafeteria. At the end of the day, students wait in the cafeteria for their names to be called. A staff member will call student names to the carpool name. Having your student’s first and last name on a piece of paper in your windshield is optional in helping speed up this process. We have many walkers and crosswalks. Please drive slow and watch for crossing Buccaneers!

Transportation

A few important updates and reminders for the new year:

  • Bus stops/bus routes (Infofinder) will be live by Aug. 1, the link can be found here or on the transportation webpage. Please check your child’s bus stop info as it may have changed.

  • Wylie ISD uses “Here Comes the Bus,” which can be found through the district’s app (can also be downloaded on its own). Here Comes the Bus is how the Transportation department communicates if a bus is running late. More information about Here Comes the Bus can be found on the Transportation webpage.

Pre-Check/Volunteers

We are excited to continue our Pre-Check ID program and welcome our parents and families back on our campuses to volunteer and for celebrations and events. The webpage has been updated for the new school year. Please start by filling out the form on the website. We will let you know when we are ready to get your picture and badge.
