LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Weekly Memo 9/26/2016
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
I have had some concerns expressed about tardies and students out in the hallways during class time. Tardies will be linked to trust cards very soon and in an effort to help, Mr. Emshoff has decided to reprogram the bells so that students will recognize when the bell will ring. Once they are set, we will play music during passing periods until 30 seconds before the tardy bell rings. At that point the music shuts off and let's students know they have to move toward class. We hope this will help with a good number of students. As for students in the hallway during class time, I would suggest making it a classroom policy that students do not leave your classroom for any reason, unless it is an emergency. Since trust cards will be linked to grades, attendance, etc., perhaps that will be a privilege for some once implemented. Have a great week!
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Don't forget to ask students about their goals and Skyward access to grades! If they cannot login, have them drop by one of the offices before or after school, at lunch, or during passing period.
- Reminder: If you have students that will be missing class time at any point between now and the end of the school year, please send those details to Mr. Emshoff. This is to help monitor students and provide sufficient notice to teachers.
- Please be sure you to set up your initial goal setting meetings with your appraisers. Goal setting meetings should be completed by this Friday, Sept. 30.
- Don't forget your required state trainings. The deadline is this Friday for the suicide and child abuse, the remaining sessions are due Friday, October 7. IMPORTANT: when you go into website and register, you must then wait at least 4 hours before you can access the training. If you do not get it complete, you will have to use your 1/2 teacher work day on Oct. 10th to complete. Here is the link- https://mis.esc11.net/
- The leadership team will meet at 7:45 am on Thursday. (I am at district training all day on Wednesday.) Please let me know if that day is difficult for you.
- We should have a student advisory group selected by the end of this week.
- Please don't forget to post on Twitter and Facebook. This is a great way for us to celebrate all the great things happening here on campus.
