Don't Forget....
- 20-25 age appropriate labels for the classroom, students must know all labels by the end of the year in both languages, read the room
- Daily writing in math, LA , science, social studies, LOD, etc.
- All English labels in Blue, all Spanish in Red
- Always reference the Spanish TEK as well as the English to see how they look in both languages
- Student generated alphabet two times a year, begin with letter in kinder an work to sentences. Make sure the sentences are age appropriate. Teachers are to write the word for kindergarten and 1st if needed for legibility. These are to be placed on blue or red strips of butcher paper.
- Must have both language alphabets in all rooms even the teamed rooms that only teach English. In upper grades may have content level ABC's.
- Must have a minimum of 60-90 words on the word wall by end of 1st six weeks. Add 2-3 words per day to each WW. Continue to add words and replace learned words.
- Content bulletin boards use to preview content vocabulary prior to instruction and after.
- Language of instruction never changes during the lesson, we do not translate.
- Best thing to use is a blank sheet of paper for student learning, worksheets are language killers
- Bilingual pairs are crucial to student support, heart of the program.
- Bulletin boards consistent in the color of the language.

- Do not allow one word responses, always ask for full sentence answers.
- Create lessons to the top 25% of the class to assure academic rigor , select the first verb from Comprehension Level and second verb from Application Level or higher to use in the learning objective.
