Principal's Message
Greetings Wolfsville Families,
WOW - it's hard to believe it is already March! It has been almost one year since our schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Let's continue to take care of ourselves and our children. We are hopeful that county metrics will continue to trend downward over the next several months. We are delighted to have children back in our school building for the hybrid model. There is nothing like seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter in the hallways. We look forward to having all of our young Wildcats back with us in the near future!
As we continue to progress through our shift to the FCPS hybrid learning model, our school staff remains committed to providing the very best for all students, whether engaged in hybrid or virtual learning. We ask for your patience as we begin the implementation of a brand new learning experience for our staff and students, which includes revised schedules. Most typically, you will not find instructional blocks during the 8:30 - 9:00 am and 2:00 - 2:30 pm time periods. The majority of our staff is involved with the arrival and dismissal process at this time. Instructional blocks between 2:30 - 3:00 pm are planned as additional opportunities for virtual students to receive additional support as needed; this could be for students that remain fully virtual OR for students in a virtual cohort that day.
The attendance goal is for your student to attend all scheduled time with his/her teacher. It is important for your student to attend all Google Meet sessions on virtual learning days and to join on time. We acknowledge that screen time can be challenging. Please assist your child by helping them limit distractions (we recommend cameras on, no phones, no tv, food only during break times). Thank you for your support and assistance in helping your child focus on learning during these sessions. If you have any questions regarding your student's schedule, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Any families who wish to request a change in their child's current model of instruction (from virtual to hybrid, or hybrid back to virtual) may do so at the conclusion of quarter three to start quarter four. Please be on the lookout for an FCPS Find Out First message on March 8th. Quarter three ends on April 9th, soon after spring break. We appreciate your continued support as we do our best for our kids!
Please feel free to contact me by phone (240-236-2250) or e-mail (linda.stuart@fcps.org) with any questions you may have. We are here for you!
Yours in Education,
Linda Stuart

Below are links to the 2020-2021 WFES Family and Student Handbooks. They contain information about our school and include important routines and procedures. The first link below is the full handbook that addresses more of the traditional learning model with sections that are applicable to students attending in the hybrid format. The second is specifically designed for the hybrid format.
Student Instructional Materials
Each quarter we have sent home materials of instruction for your children. We understand that some of the small math manipulatives may get lost as students are practicing at home. Please know that we will not be asking that you replace these small items. Please help your child stay as organized as possible and have them place small items in zip lock baggies when they are done using them.
Thank you!
Cohort A & Cohort B Students & Chrome Books
Important Reminder: Please be sure your child remembers to bring his/her FCPS issued chrome book to school each day. We are not a 1:1 device school, so we do not have extra chrome books to issue to students who forget to bring theirs to school. If your child attends school in the building for internet access, they are to leave their FCPS issued chrome book at school.
Thank you!
This year's Youth Art Month will be a virtual event. We celebrate three students who will be representing Wolfsville in the art show:
Adelie Hockensmith (4th grade), Linus Reilly (3rd grade) and Brylee Cameron (2nd grade).
Congratulations to our young artists!

We are happy to welcome back students to our Library Media Center! To help your child have an optimal experience, please help remind them to return books on their library day. If your child has a chapter book or needs more time with their selection, they may continue to borrow that book until they finish reading it. All returned books go directly to quarantine and all safety measures are in place during media visits. Thank you for helping!
Cohort A - Return books Monday or Tuesday Morning
Cohort B - Return books Thursday or Friday Morning
All virtual families: If you would like to borrow books from our library, please contact Ms. Valentovish through schoology or email at casee.valentovish@fcps.org. She will curate a selection of books that can be picked up at the school.

A Focus on Character Counts!
For the remainder of the year, the PTA will be highlighting a pillar of Character Counts in the monthly newsletter. We will explain each pillar and then share some conversation starters and activities you can do to highlight this pillar in your home. This month’s focus is being responsible.
What does it mean to be responsible?
Being responsible means doing the things you are supposed to do and accepting the results of your actions. Accepting responsibility is taking the praise or the blame for something you have done.
Talk as a family and discuss the different responsibilities each family member has in your household.
There are several ways that your child can help around the house. Have them help you set/clear the table, collect/take out the trash, carry groceries, collect/fold/put away laundry, feed pets, wash dishes, sweep/vacuum the floor, etc.
A chore chart can be a great way for your child to keep track of their chores and to mark them off when completed.
2. What are your responsibilities at school or work?
Students have several responsibilities at school. Students are expected to come to school each day their health allows. They are asked to follow classroom/school rules and complete assignments in a timely manner.
An alarm clock is a great tool to have your child use to wake them up each morning for school. Students as young as kindergarten can wake up with an alarm clock each morning.
A calendar or planner can be a tool to help your child keep track of their assignments and due dates.
3. What are your responsibilities in your community?
Talk with your child about the different rules/laws to keep your community clean and safe.

2020-2021 Yearbook
Hello Wildcats! Our yearbook this year will be like no other. Lifetouch is working on how to take yearbook photos for this year. They are planning to schedule days to take photos in the spring since we are scheduled to be attending school in a hybrid format - more information to come!
In the meantime, they have set up a Shutterfly Shared Site. If there is a special moment you catch your child learning or a spirit day during the school year, you can take a picture and add it to the shared site. Here's how to set it up:
1. Create an account with Shutterfly at https://www.shutterfly.com
2. After creating an account, go to wolfsville.Shutterfly.com/pictures and clink the link to request permission
3. Ask for permission
4. Put your name in the text box, your child's name and grade in the message box and I will accept you as a member
5. You will receive an email that you've been accepted to the ShareSite
6. Download the app "Shutterfly Share Sites" to your cell phone for free
7. Log in using the account info you created
8. Click photos and begin sharing photos straight from your cell phone
You may also email your photos to Kristen Johnson at kjohns10@gmail.com.
If you have any questions about the yearbook, please contact Kristen Johnson at kjohns10@gmail.com.
