WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ABRAMS?
Notes from the Office
School Cancellations: Abrams Elementary School is part of the Oconto Falls School District, therefore when Oconto Falls Schools are cancelled, delayed, or an early dismissal due to weather this includes Abrams Elementary School closing or early dismissals due to inclement weather will be announced on the following televisions stations: WBAY; WLUK; WFRV; AND WGBA, as well as several radio stations. You can also check cancellations online a www.cancellations.com Just type “Oconto Falls Area Schools” in the “partial name” box.
Lost and Found: Our “Lost and Found” table in the lobby is growing! If you have lost a hat, mitten, shirt, coat, or shoes please take time to look at these items and claim yours. Please take some time and look through this table when you stop in. Thanks.
5K - 5 Holiday Concert: The student's are practicing and learning the music for the holiday concert. Excitement is in the air...our holiday concert is almost here! There will be two performances on Thursday, 12/14/17 at 9:30 AM & 1:30 PM. All students in grades 5K - 5 will perform at both shows. However, to keep the crowd size down we are asking that families whose last names begin with A-M attend the morning show at 9:30, and the families whose last name begin with N-Z attend the afternoon show at 1:30.
PARENT NOTES: There has been an increasing number of late communication phone calls between parents and the school office regarding end of the day transportation. Your help in following the procedure outlined in the Family Handbook for 2017-18 students is so greatly appreciated!
The Family Handbook for 2017-18 states: "If your child needs to go home on a different bus or get dropped off at a different location, please send a note to your child's classroom teacher the day of the change or call the school office PRIOR to 2:00 P.M. If your child has a change in bus routine for multiple days, please send a note each morning with appropriate change ...Without prior notice, your child will be sent home on their regular bus." Please note this includes changes such as someone picking up your child rather than them riding the bus. These types of changes need a note sent each day. If the change occurs once your child is in school a phone call MUST be made to the school office NO LATER than 2:00 PM. Office personal needs time to let the classroom teacher know about the change.
After School Activities: "Students staying after school for dance, scouts, etc., MUST HAVE A NOTE FOR EACH TIME they stay. Without a note, students will be sent home on their regular bus."
School Dress Up Days:
December 15th - Candy Cane day - wear red and white
December 22nd - Holiday accessories and Christmas sweater day

Scrip Cards for Sale at Abrams Elementary! Scrip cards are gift cards you can use to pay at checkout for groceries, gas, retail stores and restaurants without the risk of fraud. You can use the scrip cards to shop in-store or online with participating retailers. You purchase gift cards at face value and use them for your purchases. If you find yourself patronizing certain stores, please consider buying scrip. Every other week the CPTO sends home an order form for you to order your cards, or you can stop in the school office and purchase cards that we have on-hand.
These cards make great Christmas gifts, birthday presents, or a great budgeting tool. Also, Kohl’s scrip cards may be applied to Kohl’s charge bill at the service counter or any checkout. Any questions contact Crystal Berg at cberg1081@gmail.com .

Community and District News
The Oconto Falls School District honors one employee each year with the Distinguished Service Award. The award has been in existence since 1994 and is presented to an employee for consistent, outstanding, and favorable performance, which assists in the district’s goal of providing a quality education to each student. This year's theme was "The Starfish Story"– It made a difference to that one! The selection committee read the nomination letters and thoroughly enjoyed reading through all the nomination letters. The committee realized that we have many nominees who are making a difference to students in this district. Congratulations to all the nominees on making a difference. Then the selection committee cast their secret ballots and the results were tallied... The winner was announced! The 2017-2018 Distinguished Service Award goes to…..
Erika Bauer—
Abrams Elementary Secretary/Summer School Secretary/District Calendar Coordinator/ DSA Coordinator.
Congratulations to Erika! You have made a difference!
.Attention parents of children ages 3-8 who received their flu shot at school from Oconto County Public Health!
Some children need 2 doses of the flu shot. If your child is 8 years old and younger AND received the flu shot for the first time or has only had one flu shot in total prior to July 1, 2017, plan for two flu shots given at least four weeks apart. Public Health encourages you to schedule your child’s second flu shot soon!
Public Health can provide the second flu shot to your child free of charge to those that qualify. Please call Public Health at 920-834-7000 or your health care provider.
