Rigorous Reading
5 Access Points for Comprehending Complex Texts
for Secondary Teachers of Science, Social Studies, & Other Subjects
A Blended Professional Learning Series
"The Common Core State Standards spotlight complex texts as a chief means for elevating student learning."
The newly designed SAT requires students to engage in close reading, integrating information from both texts and informational graphics. Through an in-depth study of Rigorous Reading: 5 Access Points for Comprehending Complex Texts, we will explore the following questions:
- What makes a text complex?
- How do we best support students in reading complex text independently and proficiently?
This webinar book study will begin with a face-to-face session to introduce the study and share how to interact in a webinar environment. Participants will learn strategies to support students in accessing complex Science, Social Studies, Technical, and other texts for learning. SCECHs available.
