The Sunday Message for the Week of February 13, 2017
Good evening to all parents and staff. This is Kevin Biles, Principal of Pleasant Union Elementary with announcements for the week of February 13, 2017.
As mentioned in last week’s "The Sunday Message” Wake County Public Schools is in the process of expanding the options for communicating with families. This process will include options for email, text, and voicemail. Over the past two years our collection of the needed information has been comprehensive for Kindergarten and first grade. We are continuing to bring all grades up to the same level of accuracy and ask that 2nd-5th grade parents that haven’t completed the Google Form from last week that this is done this week so that we have the data necessary to provide the expanded parent communication options.
I hope that you are enjoying the new digital newsletter via Smore. Please let me now if you are not getting the voicemail message, too (kbiles@wcpss.net).
The Week Ahead

Welcome to Shannon Newby 5th Grade Artist in Residency. She will be working with the 5th grade this week to create a coral reef that will be installed in our school Makerspace. You may have seen some of her work at Marbles Museum. Thank you to all parents that have helped collect supplies for our 5th grade artist in residence project. We only are in need of toilet paper and paper towel rolls to complete the project supply list. If you have these items please bag and label them "5th grade Artist in Residency project”. Then send to any of the 5th grade staff or Mrs. Hopper, our art teacher. Thanks so much.

Please check out his website and the “Goodreads” site for for more about the many wonderful children’s books that he has written and illustrated. Check with your K-4 teachers as to author program and autograph schedules.
Need Your Help
Be on the lookout for the cones at the top of our carpool circle being reconfigured at 8:30 a.m. each morning. I am asking that parents NOT move the cones once the carpool configuration has been done. It is always our intent to keep students safe. ONLY our special education transportation vans are allowed to move the cones to drop off students in the the traffic circle after 8:30 and before the start of the carpool at 8:45. Please do not put our staff in the difficult situation of asking you to follow a safety procedure that has been safe and successful so that a few minutes can be saved.
