Worship Series Begins Sunday: New Kid on the Block

Join us for our worship series, New Kid on the Block, as Rev. Ashley Anne Sipe takes us through the early years of Jesus.

Sunday, January 16 | Week 1 | Showin’ Up and Showin’ Out
As soon as Christmas is over, we already know who the Christ Child will become. However, let’s go back to when Jesus was the “New Kid on the Block” and see how he introduced himself to the world he loved. Maybe we don’t know everything we think we do about Jesus! Let’s start ... at the beginning!

Prayer Team Email Group Created

Prayer is an important part of our spiritual journey and an integral part of the life of Vista Ridge UMC. To enhance prayer in the church, a new Prayer Team email group has been created. Prayer requests will no longer be sent through the All Church email group.

Please email to sign up to receive the prayer emails. Prayer Team members commit to praying for the concerns of our church family.

To submit a concern that needs prayer, email or complete the Let’s Connect form. Prayer requests will be emailed to the prayer team unless indicated as confidential for only the pastor and staff.

Prayer requests will remain on the prayer list for a maximum of three weeks and can be extended with a new request. Prayer updates also are encouraged.

News Report Produced to Tell of Upcoming Youth Activities

Our Youth Ministry launched its first video report this week that tells of upcoming news and activities. Youth members will take turns serving as anchors each month and highlight special youth activities through video and photos.

“This is a great opportunity for our young people at Youth Connect to highlight monthly activities,” said Johnny Milton, Director of Youth Ministry. “It’s a fun way for the youth to create fun and engaging video bulletins to let our church know what’s going on at Youth Connect. We hope this will also encourage other young people to join us at VRUMC.”

Check out the short video below and share it with someone who may want to join our youth on Sunday afternoons at Youth Connect!

Supporting UMCOR Tornado Relief Efforts

Vista Ridge UMC will support United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to help those affected by the tornadoes that ripped through parts of the South and Midwest in nine states earlier this month.

Contributions from the congregation will be accepted through the end of January. In addition, continued prayers are encouraged for those who lost loved ones and survivors who have been affected by the extensive storm damage. The recovery and rebuilding of the communities will be a multi-year process.

Please label donations for UMCOR and leave them during worship or with the church office by Sunday, January 30.

Thank You Thursday

New Servant Leadership Council to Meet for the First Time on January 22 for Retreat

Following the unanimous support of the congregation to change the church’s leadership structure, the newly formed Servant Leadership Council will gather for its first meeting on Saturday, January 22. The retreat agenda will include training, member responsibilities, and the processes that will be put in place to operate with the simplified accountable structure.

The change in leadership structure was adopted during the Church Conference on December 12 and members of the new Servant Leadership Council were appointed immediately afterward during the Charge Conference.
