Welcome NRMS Students!
Class of 2027, 2028, & 2029
Dear NRMS Students and Parents:
Welcome to the 2022/2023 school year! We hope you are having a wonderful summer and getting ready for a great school year ahead. It's hard to believe that our first day of school is less than a month away on August 22nd! In order to prepare for the upcoming school year, we have scheduled an in-person orientation for our students. We look forward to seeing our students and welcoming them back to school!
Prior to the student orientation, we need all families to complete the student verification process prior to their child's scheduled orientation date. You will receive a verification email from our district prior to the scheduled orientation dates.
We anticipate the student orientation process to take approximately 30-45 minutes. Our orientation is an "Open House" style orientation and parents are welcome to attend; however, it is not mandatory. During orientation, students will complete orientation stations and no formal presentations will be held.
Student Orientation Stations
- Student Schedules/Locker #'s
- School Pictures/Student ID's
- Laptop Distribution
- Locate/Visit Classrooms
- Practice Locker Combination

Our office reopens on Monday, August 8th, if you have any questions.
Thank you,
NRMS Administration

ID Cards
ID CARDS - ID cards are issued to all students and should be carried out at all times during school and at school-sponsored events. The ID card is not only for identification purposes but is also coded for admittance to the Library Information Center, for the school lunch program, and for issuing textbooks
Family Access Accounts
Once again for, the 2022-2023 school year, RPS will use an electronic system for the verification of student information. Parents will be able to submit changes to demographic information by means of Family Access. Parents will receive an email outlining the steps to be taken to review and submit any changes to phone numbers, and other relevant information. We highly encourage all families to set up a FA account, as it is the district’s main source of communication with parents. Please visit our website at www.rockfordschools.org & click on the Family Access link (upper right-hand side) or please feel free to contact the main office of our student’s school for additional assistance.
MEDICATION DROP-OFF
School Lunch Accounts and e-Funds
There will be a Food Service cashier available during the August orientation dates should you want to deposit money into your student’s account(s). This should alleviate some of the confusion that occurs during the first week of school. If you are sending a check, please make it payable to Rockford Food Service. Menus will be available online prior to orientation. These may be viewed under the Services/Food Service menu option at www.rockfordschools.org. Lunch prices are posted on the menu.
Also available online will be the 2022-23 Free and Reduced Application and instruction sheet. Should you qualify, your child is eligible for both breakfast and lunch. Meals based on the State of Michigan requirements are at a reduced rate of .30 cents for breakfast and .40 cents for lunch. A description of a qualifying Type A meal is provided on each menu. The Free and Reduced packet can be viewed, obtained, and downloaded from our webpage rockfordschools.org., under the Service Menu, and either mailed to Rockford Food Service at 4100 Kroes Rd, Rockford, MI 49341 or emailed to JFish@rockfordschools.org. Applications also are available from the school offices.
For those who participated in the Free and Reduced Meal Program the previous year, there is a one-month grace period or Sept. 30 deadline, whichever comes first, at the start of the school year, to allow you time to renew your application. Failure to submit an application will result in removal from this program. We accept applications throughout the entire school year. Applications will also be available in the main offices. If you have any questions, call 863-6037.
e-FUNDS FOR SCHOOLS
The e-Funds for Schools program will allow you to choose several payment options to use when paying for your student’s lunch and other school items. You will have the ability to have payments automatically withdrawn electronically from your checking account or charged to your credit card; you also have the flexibility to pay at any time using the school’s website.
For further information, go to: rpsfamily@rockfordschools.org and choose e-Funds or contact the Food Service department at your student’s school.
Lockers and Backpacks
We will be returning to the use of lockers and students will not be permitted to carry backpacks. Lockers were eliminated due to contact tracing both last year and the year prior, and that will not be our reality for the 22-23 school year. The elimination of backpacks creates more space in classrooms and will grow our students in organization and planning!
