Message from the Principal
January 12, 2024
Dear UAHS students and families,
This weekend we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Below is an excerpt from an article written by Coretta Scott King, who was married to Dr. King, commemorating the holiday.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America. We commemorate as well the timeless values he taught us through his example — the values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service that so radiantly defined Dr. King’s character and empowered his leadership. On this holiday, we commemorate the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that empowered his revolutionary spirit.
Dr. King once said that we all have to decide whether we “will walk in the light of creative altruism or the darkness of destructive selfishness. Life’s most persistent and nagging question, he said, is `what are you doing for others?’” (King, 2016).
Take a moment over the holiday weekend to reflect on Dr. King’s life work and on how we as individuals can make a positive difference in our world.
Make it a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Andrew C. Theado
Principal

Attendance Procedures
Student Attendance
Attendance is a critical component to learning. Students need to show up in order to take full advantage of the education programs we offer. When a student has an unexcused absence from class, both student and parents/guardians will be notified the next day and a consequence (detention) will be assigned for each unexcused absence. Be sure to check your attendance each day to ensure it is accurate.

Medical Notes
Please submit your medical notes to uahsattendance@uaschools.org. In order for attendance hours to not accumulate towards habitual absence triggers, medical documentation is needed.
