Snow Day - A Welcome Break

Happy New Year to IMS families! What a perfect way to end this week with this beautiful snow day. With many students and staff out of school this week, the everyday tasks of the school day have been a bit more difficult to manage. Our incredible staff pulled together and continued to deliver engaging lessons and meaningful curriculum throughout the week, while reaching out to absent students. I'm hoping that we see some relief in the days ahead. I want to remind you of the extra precautions we have taken to bring us safely through this latest Covid surge.

  • Student desks have been spread apart in classrooms and positioned facing in one direction.

  • All students and staff must wear masks.

  • Students have been directed to use every other seat in the cafeteria and staggered so that the seat across from each student is empty. They are reminded to put masks on when not eating and sent outside as soon as possible for recess.

  • Desks and work areas are wiped down between classes.

  • Air purification systems are kept on throughout the day and night.

A reminder that the school nurses are extremely busy and the office cannot be used as a surveillance testing site.

School Council Meeting

The next school council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 11th from 6:30-7:30. At this meeting, we will discuss the World Language program. Senora Reed and Senora Harvey, 8th grade Spanish teachers, will present an overview of the program and their classrooms. We will also review the proposed Fiscal Year 23 school budget. Please join us if you can.

Yearbook Information for Grade 8 Students

While it may seem early, your IMS Yearbook team is requesting “throwback” photos of your eighth grade children from over the years. These photos are best when there are several students in the photo, and the farther back they are from, the better! The photos can be from their years at the elementary and middle schools, but also from teams, clubs, productions, celebrations, gatherings, etc. outside of the school. We have a spread in the yearbook dedicated to the eighth graders over their "growing up" years and most of these photos come from families. We are so appreciative of any you can send our way over the next month or so!

Similarly, we are also asking that you email one baby photo of your child for the yearbook. Please make sure their face is clearly visible in the photo, and include your child’s name in the subject line so we can match babies to their eighth grade selves! Please email photos to sborton@ipsk12.net and jpatterson@ipsk12.net .
