Congratulations to coaches Tony Hafner and Maggie Patel and their team of students Ashra Roshy, Anusha Saraf, Jonathan He, Richard Xu, and Nisha Salian.

State Competition
Congratulations to the Warriors Scholastic Bowl who competed at the state competition in early May.
Only 16 teams out of 380 teams that participated in scholastic bowl made it to state. This is the 32nd year for the state tournaments in scholastic bowl. Daniel Wright has the most appearances in the State tournament.
Thanks to the efforts of coaches Allyson Ward and Jan Lamberti along with team members Jonathan He, Rishab Konada, Nisha Salian, Ani Srinivasan, Janardhan Vasireddy, Vibhav Vosa, Ethan Wang, Richard Xu, and Chelsea Zhao.
School Record Set at Conference
After a two-year hiatus, Warriors Track and Field returned in force at the six-team Patriots Conference meet held this month. Check out some pictures on Facebook.
The seventh-grade boys 4x400 meter relay team beat the competition by almost a full minute; and in doing so, they set a new Daniel Wright Junior High School event record, covering that mile in a blazing 4 minutes and 32.1 seconds, beating the 2019 school record of 4:35.1!! Congratulations to the relay team of Spencer Manning, Matthew Spohnholtz, Adam Foley, and Owen Moran.
"We know the team has done well when our team mascot can't help us count the hardware without falling over in a tangled mess,” said Morgan McDermott, who coaches the 119 athlete team with Michele Amato and John Solis. Warriors Track and Field finished the conference with 16 additional gold medals:
Sixth-Grade

Asian Pacific American Heritage
The roots of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month can be traced back to 1976, when Jeanie Jew, president of the Organization of Chinese American Women, contacted government officials in response to the lack of Asian Pacific representation in the U.S. bicentennial celebrations that same year. The observance began in 1979 as Asian Heritage Week, established by congressional proclamation. In May 1990, the holiday was expanded further when President George Bush signed a proclamation making it month-long for that year. On October 23, 1992, President Bush signed legislation designating May of every year Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The month of May was chosen to commemorate two significant events in history: the immigration of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States on May 7, 1843, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869 (Golden Spike Day). The diversity and common experiences of the many ethnic groups are celebrated during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with numerous community festivals as well as government-sponsored activities. Schools celebrate with school entrance and library display and classroom lessons.
